I'd be willing to bet that they are waiting to figure out what this storm is going to do before putting the letters up..after all, it will start getting stormy on tuesday..

no. I literally think the portions of the west that include the bricks and slats are ugly as frick and I think these letters are going to look cheesy as shite. Sorry I have insulted your precious LSU.

The sad thing is, this is actually true. The glue ordered by the architect and used to bond the windows to the structure of the building had a tendency to fail in high heat. This obvious design flaw was realized shortly after the windows were installed when they began falling onto the concourse below. The windows were replaced, the ones that hadn't fallen were re-installed with a different glue and extra reinforcing, and the bars were put up just in case any other windows fell. The last thing they want is a couple hundred pounds of glass plummeting 150+ feet and killing a few poor bystanders.

So why can't they reinstall the windows using the glue that they know will work? No way that's the only reason the bars are up. They can't just pin that on a contractor ordering the wrong glue. If it's also because of the sun, then lsu was stupid for not getting tinted windows.

Mirrored glass is quite common in cityscapes. No idea why LSU didn't go that route. Something like this would've been nice looking.

That type of glass would make all the difference in the world on the west side. Not sure what hinders that from occurring other than money.

The slats were shown in the preliminary renderings of the west side expansion, so they were no afterthought. They were always intended to be there. I don't think they were intended to hold the windows in place. They are there solely to filter light.
And mirrored glass would look terrible. It's cheesy.
