Is LSU incapable of building supports?
Tiger Stadium is already bad enough that it has four completely different sides to the exterior and you want to change the only good one?

The way they have the screen set up with the static national championships and ads on both ends
I don’t know why we need to display the championships on the board. There are flags on each side of the board and then just put the dates on the SEZ like jerseys retired.

Too much clutter with the miscellaneous stats and ads on both sides. Needs the live action to span the whole board to be an improvement.
First off.. why? Why does the entire scoreboard need to be live action?
I genuinely don’t understand this mentality. The “live action” part of the screen is way bigger than the old one. I’ve said it in this thread already, but the difference between the “live action” parts of the screens is larger than the difference between a 55” and 70” TV. Imagine replacing a 55” TV with like a 72” TV and thinking “it’s the same size.”

But aside from that, why are y’all against having space for stats and information? It’s like some of you want to sit in the stadium and just watch the ESPN broadcast.
The live video area is way bigger.
tRant: “It’s the same size.”
Ads take up way less of the screen proportionally (possibly even less actual square footage) and, based on what we’ve seen so far, look way less gaudy.
tRant: “They made it bigger just to cover it with gaudy ads.”
Other SEC programs cover way more of their video boards with ads that look even worse.
tRant: “Why is LSU the worst with these ads?”
There’s actually room for real-time stats without turning off the live video/replays.
tRant: “They should have used that space for something else.”
It’s unreal.

I might be able to see the numbers on the right side of the board from the other side of the field, but the punt/kick stats (useless anyway) on the left will be illegible (my Rx is only -1.25.) all stats available in real near time in one of 10 different apps. And there is this thing called an announcer which makes it impossible to miss that it’s 3rd and 4, etc.
If the board is about “hype” in the crowd, nobody gets wood at stats. They do get it with massive replays of people getting trucked, etc.

Thats not a static board. The video will larger for in game play and replays...they will not keep the stats up the whole time!
I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand this.

If you could read the score on the old score board, you should be able to read the stats on the new one. Not sure how your Rx is relevant.

So now the down and distance doesn’t even belong in the scoreboard?

It exists for more than one purpose. It’s there for replays, it’s there for information, and - yes - it’s there for ads.
The space for replays is much larger than it was before. The space for ads, if anything, is the same size or smaller than it was before.
Let’s assume that they were, in fact, height-limited due to support requirements. They made the board 32% taller. Would y’all have preferred that they only made it 32% wider as well instead of over 100% wider? I mean, then you could keep the same overall aspect ratio and wouldn’t have all of this “wasted” space on stats and information. Would that have somehow been better?
The answer is no. It would be asinine to suggest that a 105x37 video board is better than a 152x37 video board because the smaller board doesn’t “waste” room on stats.
It’s an improvement in every way - both functionally and aesthetically- over what we had before. My only gripe is that the uncovered speaker towers don’t look great, but I also don’t know if that’s the final installation (or whether leaving them uncovered was necessary for sound quality purposes).
I stand by my position. Some of y’all bitch and moan for the sake of bitching and moaning.

Looks like advertising isn’t gong to be up all the time. I don’t have access inside Tiger Stadium but I figure I’d share the picture I snapped this morning.

Can they mount an internet router in the scoreboard so we can all have internet access while at the game?

If you want to play on the internet save money, sit in the AC and stay home. Let the people who want to watch the game have your seat.

Any updates on the speaker coverings or the traditional LSU on the backside of the video board?
Posted on 8/15/24 at 5:07 pm to LSUSportsFan2000
I saw the backside of the video board today and they are still working on it. So, as of right now it is just metal but I pass by daily so if I see any changes I will update.
