It hasn't been the same for one reason: the indolent, sluggardly, lazy nouvea riche dilletante fans who populate the east and west sidelines. Who are they? Corporate interlopers? They arrive late, the sit quietly and spend the majority of the game puttering around on their smart phones, and they leave early. They view the game as some ludicrous soiree, rather than a blood frickign war. I have vowed to get to the bottom of the situation on numerous occassions, but work and family intervene. Who are they? Why are they such terrible fans? I want to slaughter them.

So silly.

Why is it silly? Various pictorials over the last two years have demonstrated that the east and west sidelines vacate earlier than the endzones and upper decks.

And yes, I've heard the libertarian ticket philosophy, viz. "I bought the tickets and I'll do what I please." Fair enough. But according to the same principle of freedom, I'll mock the bufoons as unmanly, banal, effete milquetoasts with tiny balls and shriveled spirits.

In my experience that UGA 03 was amazing but doesn't hold a candle to the Florida 07 game. It was surreal.

This. I was lucky enough to be on the field for that game. Absolutely amazing. It was just surreal.

student section is in end zone. That place is last to fill up and first to empty.

ETA - but i give them a pass because they are the loudest and don't ever sit down, unless passed out

Every day I am more proud to have been at the 03 UGA game. Its kind of a funny story because at the time my family lived in Atlanta and i was a senior in HS, but my parents who both went to LSU raised me as an avid fan and surprised me that we were flying to baton rouge after my Friday night football game.

I ended up going to UGA simply because i got the hope scholarship but I have never neglected to explain to people that they have never heard crowd noise until they have been to Tiger Stadium.

Heck, I was at the game and I can't be sure. I'm 99%, though.

My favorite Death Valley games that I've been to in person:

Oct. 25, 1969 LSU 21 Auburn 20 1st game ever
1982 LSU 55 Florida State 21 Soph at LSU oranges
1986 LSU 35 Texas A&M 17 Hodson & H.Williams
1995 LSU 10 Auburn 6 bring back the magic
2000 LSU 38 Tennessee 31 OT DV is back!
2000 LSU 30 Bama 28 1st BR win since '70
2001 LSU 27 Auburn 14 Tuba game
2001 LSU 41 Arkansas 38 Shootout
2003 LSU 17 Georgia 10 ESPN Game Day
2003 LSU 31 Auburn 7 Made idiots of Albert/May
2003 LSU 55 Arkansas 24 For SECW title
2005 LSU 20 Auburn 17 Doink!
2007 LSU 48 Va.Tech 7 Parachute game
2007 LSU 28 Florida 24 5 for 5 on 4th downs
2008 LSU 21 Bama 28 OT. If we had ret'd the blocked FG for a TD, they would have had to rebuild Tiger Stadium...

I missed the '79 USC game, the '88 Auburn game,
the '97 Florida game, and the '10 Bama game

i doubt it son. I just think that was an epic moment in tiger stadium. Trying to get everyone fired up for the game, sorry if you are just going to sit there and do nothing with yourself. I'm here to party though

I just don't get any utility in constantly running down one of the best CF players of all time - and who, btw, represents almost everything that is RIGHT about college sports.

If he had played for LSU, there is a 100% chance he would be the most beloved player of all time.

I dug this little nugget out of the fail pail from 2 days prior to the 2007 game.

But he was right. LSU winning the game didn't prove there was a "mystique".

Dude - I'm not talking about "the game" - I'm talking about the entire experience. That was one of the greatest build-up/lead up/game day/crowd and actual game in CFB history. It was our pivotal win in securing a bid to the BCS-CG - the 4th down conversions, the back and forth.

~20000 were on campus with no ticket and no intention of going in.

That was, without a doubt, 1 of the 3 or 4 best CFB experiences of all time, any school, any year.

Couldn't agree with you more. Even the Bama game last year was dull until the 4th qtr. I think some of it has to do with our recent pedestrian offense and the lack of big plays.

Big plays on offense mean a big crowd reaction which makes for a loud crowd on defense. The only time this past Saturday the crowd got remotely involved was after the Beckham and Mathieu TDs.

Been to all the ones mentioned above and, believe me, they ALL pale to this contest.

However, for sheer sustained noise and intensity, UF 97 is unsurpassed.

This game from the student section was the most insane experience at a football game I've ever had. Started going to games when I was very young, so I've been to most of the big one's. Remember a group of Middle Eastern students and the absolute look of terror on their faces after Cedric Donaldson's pick 6 started a torrential downpour of bourbon. Lot's of disbelief involved in that atmosphere. It was a brief celebration as Tommy T had Gerry D bent over at 11am the next Saturday in TS.

Georgia game in '03 was definitely more of an angry crowd and the place came apart for S Greene's TD.

LSU-Tennessee 2000 in overtime was a great game also. fans rushed the field. They did it later that year after finally beating Bama at home for the first time in 30 years. what a season. They rushed the field after the clinching of the sec west in 2001 against Auburn also.

To the OP, who are you to call a very talented football player a pussy? Who gives a shite if he cried after the game? Guess what? He has millions. I wonder if you cry evertime you have to pay your electricity bill. The guy proved himself over and over again. I bet that you cry everytime LSU loses and I bet that you never went to school at LSU. If you call me out, I'd love it. I have three degrees from LSU and I would welcome questions from a dumbass.

Chanting "L.S.U. L.S.U...." after uga's TD only to score immediately was the best feeling in the world regarding sports.

I'm usually against a fan's self-entitlement but I couldn't help but think "holy shite! We made that happen".

Throwing sugar cubes onto the field after beating tenn in the SECCG was a pretty good feeling too.
