Are people supposed to be satisfied with that pathetic answer?

“Oh, gee! I sure hope so! :)”

LSU has set themselves up to get boned in the portal. The transfers have all the leverage here

Nobody is banging down the door to play for LSU. The only SEC team that hasn't made the tournament of the last 2 years. Or to play for a lameduck coach with a 14-40 conference record. Now LSU has shouted from the hills that they've got all this NIL money loaded up and ready to reshape the whole roster through the portal. What do the players hear? LSU is desperate and willing to pay. Only reason to come to LSU is for the money and they better pay me a premium to sacrifice playing for a real contender with a good coach.

This year, McMahon’s NIL budget for roster retention and enhancement is approximately to $8 million, according to sources, because of newfound NIL strategies and financial deployment by LSU.

“We suddenly discovered this new strategy of allocating money to the basketball roster !”

So where does this newfound money put us among our SEC peers?

MM better land some top talent because with them screaming from the rooftops it’s purely NIL that’s held him back, so if he fails to bring in a big time class then it’s pretty obvious who’s to blame. Not that LSU cares because they’ve already bought enough time to get him to next season with this propaganda.

Maybe you can finally be the McMahon fan to answer this for me.

What does McMahon do well that makes him a good coach? Is it his offense, the defense, the rebounding, the turnovers, etc etc? Please, name one thing that McMahon does well that has convinced you he's a good coach.

No excuse not to be in the tournament if we buy a team for next season.

What do you want him to say?

“Yes, absolutely. I guarantee it”
“Not only are we making the NCAAT, but we’re making the S16”

The guy doesn’t even have a roster yet, but he thinks it’s a realistic expectation with the funds available.

I’m confused. I thought retention wasn’t on the table because this team was devoid of talent.
You must be talking to a mirror or some of the other negative Nancy's. I have never said any such thing.

We have talent, especially in the true freshmen this past year. Robert Miller finished strong and no one denies Vyctorius' skills. Some people dislike CG3, but I can see his clear ball handling skills and can see his progression potential, especially if he puts on some muscle. And Collins is definitely talented if we can keep him.

Will Wade is in Raleigh telling the fan base they are going to win immediately. Why can’t McMahon promise a product that won’t make our eyes bleed in year 4?

The problem with this is that he's still having to compete against other SEC coaches and other top coaches in the country if he wants to get good players. Could you imagine being a player and being offered around the same amount of money to go play for Pearl at Auburn, Oats and Bama, or any other decent coach from the SEC or around the country? Or come here and play for McMahon. It's an easy choice and McMahon will lose that battle every single time.

That means we'll have to overpay for any decent player to come here. And once they get here, they still have to be put in a system that they can be successful in - which McMahon has proven over the last 3 years he's not capable of doing.

No Jim, quit trying to make it seem like it’s a personal vendetta against the man. He has failed at a clip where in any other era his arse would have been fired. So people rightfully want him gone.

I hope it turns out he’s a great coach and it truly was LSU being completely incompetent with allocating NIL money to basketball, this program doesn’t need a total overhaul and I’d like to win now.

Do I actually believe that to be the case? No jim I do not

The commitment by some on here to defend quite possibly the worst LSU basketball coach in our lifetimes is incredible

Oh I know, I’m just saying LSU/MM have really painted themselves into a corner running with this propaganda.

rent there 13 Scholarships in basketball? We get one back this year. Maybe a late freshman signee? There are a few good ones still available

You are correct. I forgot to include Damion Collins in the count...which would give LSU 9 "known" players and, thus, 4 open spots

They really have.

This is Woodward going all in in hopes of just reaching the tourney so he can hold onto McMahon for another 4 or 5 years.

I picture a “fired up” McMahon as something like this:

According to some in this thread it would be reckless and premature of McMahon to portray any sort of confidence in finally ceasing to torture this fanbase.
