Main issue is the quality of piccolo players. Piccolos been declining since 2012. Back in 2010 Picollos were the absolute best in the country and Tiger Band reflected that

TGBFTL played on Sean Ardoin’s album, which received a Grammy nomination. They’ve been publicizing the shite out of that.
Now mind you, that has nothing to do with tgbftl’s deficiencies and decline as a marching band. But those changes will never be made because LSU and music school administrators are trumpeting (pardon the pun) “Look at our Grammy-nominated marching band!”
So you think any radical changes will be made? Not hardly. We are stuck with a high school band director.

If you cannot keep a straight line while marching a straight line, you have problems. That is high school parade marching 101.
There seems to be a total lack of accountability in the process. Whole squads out of formation. Tennessee’s band took us to the woodshed on marching technique. It was hard to watch.
This was my first year to be a season ticket holder. Last one too. The band used to be a source of pride for me. I cannot watch them now.

There have been topics on this by old band geeks which alleged that the previous really good band director was replaced by a good old boy hack etc

The TN band director is from Louisiana. I went to high school with him in Nola. Should bring him home

I’ve said this before, and I’ll keep saying it.
When you hire someone as “Asst Director of Bands” and they have no music degree and haven’t even taught anything from middle school band to HS drumline, you are asking for a decline.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Too many poor hires.

Nope.....She was Frank's graduate assistant, then she slept with him (they actually lived together), then she was hired by Frank to be his assistant......That's why the administration hated her! All of this is well documented! Everyone in the athletic department knew about this. However, they did not care since they (athletics) have been dealing with this kind of stuff for decades!

100% agree.......the band will never return to being a quality organization as long as scum like Damon Talley are around. This guy is a tool for the school of music......he oversaw the "theft" of the Tiger Band's funding. These people are horrible human beings.
