Three out of five plays LSU ran slants

All on the same drive. Any wonder the third slant got picked off by the cornerback? That's on the coaches, not on the qb.

The QB doesn't have to throw the ball if it isn't open.

The fake slant, wide open fade to the endzone. That's on the QB, not the coaches.

Yeah, it was obvious, we know...

that corner who picked it off played that throw like a grown arse man.

If the interception was a slant, it was the deepest, slowest developing slant I've seen. It was 10 yards down the field.

The fake slant down by the end zone was not a good throw, but a terrible job by the receiver to back pedal for a pass over his head.
Mett has not thrown every ball well, but we have to help him out with the play calling. The LSU wide receiver only has two routes, quick slant and 12 yard out.

mett's accuracy was off last night

That play was so money. Landry ran a beautiful route.

Agree, I know the excuse is they are setting up those double move plays, but I mean damn, you don't need to run 19 slants to set up one sluggo

It was Mett's fault not Landry's

This. Was his worst game of the season I thought. The other games he has played reasonably well, considering the O-line play and WR drops. Last night he was just off.
As for the play-calling? I was upset with the run after calling 2 timeouts and the fade to the corner of the endzone on 3rd and goal. Other than that, no complaints.

I have to disagree, respectfully of course, i thought the throw was spot on, if Landry comes out of that break harder and doesn't back peddle it's an easy 6.

It's a 3 step timing route. The cornerback jumped the route. Not Mett's fault.

I'm well aware

Kinda torn on the sluggo pass/route. I thought it was a bit overthrown, but a horrible route as well. If Landry runs at a 45 degree angle instead of backpedalling he catches the ball.

He sold the slant beautifully, but I see what you mean. He was too far from the pylon.

i haven't seen so many posts trying to take blame off the qb since Lee was in his RS Freshman year slinging pick 6's. Wonder why is that?
Posted on 10/14/12 at 8:46 pm to ready4something
Because idiots who are putting all of the passing game woes on the qb don't know what they are talking about. LSU's passing game has averaged a ranking of somewhere around 90 in the nation for the last 4 years. What is the constant in that variable?

it's also on teh CB to recognize it and jump the route extremely quick.
Not all picks are a result of bad offensive plays....sometimes the defense makes a good read or makes a play.
I would say it's mostly a result of the SC player and somewhat on the predictability of the slant pattern. I don't believe that pick was Mett's fault at all..it's a 3 step drop and ball is gone. It's not a play designed to have a progression.
