re: Thoughts on Alleva now?

LSU fans do not like anyone associated with our university. Who cares if we have top 6 football team, top 25 basketball team (for the first time in a long time), #3 in gymnastics and preseason #1 in baseball. None of that matters Alleva has to go.

Alleva is a bum and always will be. Even if O turns out to be great, the way the hiring process was run was a fricking joke.
He had a lot of help with getting Wade, so he doesn't get much credit there from me.
Unlike LNCHBOX, I gave O a chance even though I wasn't happy about the hire at first. LNCHBOX may have been wrong about coach O, but I have to agree with him about Alleva.

I have no problems with JA.
Amount of qualified ADs and coaches we have on this board is astounding.
Truly amazing.

Alleva is a smug piece of shite and I hate that he’s the AD at LSU.
He has nothing to do with LSU being a baseball power. So he extended CPM, cool.
I don’t know who is responsible for Wade, but remember it was really the idea of someone else pushing Wade? Of course Alleva as AD is going to get credit.
Good on him for writing the letter to get Fulton eligible, but his handling of the coaching search out of pride was pathetic. What he did to the Duke Lacrosse coach over false allegations ( he gave him an ultimatum to resign or be fired ) is forever why I can’t stand him. He should have had his coaches back in the midst of that and let it play out.
Still need to let the 3rd full season of O happen to fully judge things. I’m not exactly thrilled we lost to Florida and a&m and for shut out by Alabama at home yet again with E as OC. This upcoming season is the real season to judge O though. So we shall see. Definitely starting to have some excitement. I hope it works out.

Who has been AD for most of that time?
And why are we giving him credit for LSU Baseball?
He didn’t hire the coach, and we were already an elite program when Joe became AD.
Again, his entire legacy comes
Down to O. O needs to put some real hardware in the trophy cases. Things that say Championship.

The gym and baseball coaches were in place BEFORE Alleva arrived at LSU. That would be like giving him credit for Coach K's massive success at Duke.
He swung and missed on two basketball HC. The first wasn't a bad hire on paper. But once it became evident Johnson wasn't going to work out he kept him around until Johnson himself saw the writing on the wall and bolted for TCU. He did so late, which forced Joe into a box that ultimately led to the hiring of Johnny Jones, a move that produced basically what everyone expected it would produce. Because of Joe's extension to Jones following 2 years and one NIT birth (because surely big time schools were beating down the door to hire Jones), he allowed the basketball program to bottom out in Jones' final year. Luckily, a motivated young coach looking to jump to a power conf. job reached out to Joe showing interest in the LSU job. Also, luckily, his assistant AD happened to play for a former young basketball HC named Billy Donovan who saw similarities in Wade. Nunez pushed for Wade.
On the football side Joe let his then HC embarrassingly get carried off the field in his "final game" only to triumphantly "keep" him...and then fire him 4 games into the next season. He then became upset when his #1 choice as a replacement fell through and rushed to the podium to hire a guy (Orgeron) BEFORE the college football season even ended. Orgeron would have been available the day before the 2017 season began.
Now certainly we ALL hope O, Wade and the rest of the coaching staffs perform well. But as others have said, any success LSU has seems to be in spite of Alleva, not because of him.

Absolutely. He was a disaster at Duke and should never have been hired. Hired O which should never have happened given his resume. Hired Trent Johnson and JJ. Both fails. Will probably promote Meatball to HC when O leaves.

None of this successful shite going on is because of Alleva. The O hire was a lazy one, akin to being sold a car when you went in to just "look around."
The car may run and you may like it, but you're still a sucker for overpaying (buyout reference) and not shopping around a bit more.

Short term… I would say that it’s good that he hasn’t screwed anything up. The verdict is still out on any long-term opinion... as it relates to LSU.
Overall I don’t care for him... the way he handled the Duke lacrosse scandal was spineless and showed a true lack of character.

He’s been our AD for a decade.
This is long term.

You sly little troll.
You are asking a bunch of yahoos who can't balance their checkbook (assuming there is actual money in the account) to assess a man that has guided the LSU athletic department to one of the most profitable in the country.
Well trolled sir, well trolled.

I'm curious. You seem to think everyone is so stupid on the Rant. Why continue to read and post here?

Unless the tailgate/ parking map, or commercial centric nature of fall Saturdays, has changed without me noticing, he still sucks.

I have no issues with the guy. I'm just genuinely curious. I find myself agreeing with him on sports topics here and there.

Still not impressed. He has handled somethings nicely, but I just can’t get past what he did at Duke. That will always be in the back of my mind no matter what, and it makes me very nervous about any decision he makes
Posted on 1/28/19 at 5:03 pm to KingNOLA
The fact that he didn’t straight up tell Florida to go frick itself when they pulled their bullshite let’s me know all I need to about him.

LOL, anybody can make an athletic department profitable by raping the fans out of money at every turn.
All this talk about balancing checkbooks is way outdated. Who the hell actually uses checks anymore. I own my own business and employ 70 people and don’t uses checks anymore. Paperless is just smart business
