Does Coach J explore possibility of trying to get Arrambide or Serra to be able to play 1B or RF so he can get another bat in lineup at DH?(wonder if either takes reps shagging flyballs now). We know Braun can play 1B or OF.
Plus I really think Monster returns for 27 season ( he’s not a top 100 prospect at the moment)
Thoughts?

With the new rule, he needs to figure a way to convince($$$) Milam and Curiel to stay. He needs 2 studs on the bump from the portal. Post season again. End of story.

Really like Braun at 1st, but I think the best scenario to get him, Serna, and Arrambide on defense all at the same time would be putting him in the outfield.

I think it's doubtful Milam returns. I just don't see his stock rising much next year, so unless he just loves the college game that much and CJJ throws a decent bag at him, he's gone.

That would be huge if he could do that. Curiel is probably gone but i think there's a chance Milam returns.

It depends on the bat that you're adding in. Can he play 1st/OF or play another position that could push someone else like maybe Pearson to 1B.

Then if so and you can DH one of them, do you have a defensively-dependable 3rd string catcher that can come in on an injury since the 2nd string is unmovable from DH. We can do it know because they trust Yamin defensively if an injury happened at a pivotal spot in a game.

Then there's the durability question of Bide/Serna. Jay likes rotating guys behind the dish to keep them fresh all year. While playing first or OF is less demanding as catcher, it's still more workload than DH.

Then sure there's the answer of "Braun is the best defensively so we leave him there" kinda like Tre Morgan for example. I also don't think either Bide or Serna are a good choice for the OF

We're too far out from knowing the rest of the guys in the lineup to answer that. BUT my guess would be you see the same thing next year. Each gets 2 games per week, the other DHs, Braun at 1st and then find actual OFs with bigger bats to finish out the lineup. Or a legit 1B and move Braun to a corner OF

The only reason to do that is that you have someone who can bat as well as them but can't play defense. When you have bats coming back like Braun, Serna, and Bide, Jay will/should recruit some defense to go along with the offense.

As for the RF portion of the question... If it came to that, I would think he'd try them at 3B before the OF. Both of them had 3B as a position on PG. Serna was listed as "C/1B, 3B". I saw where he played a good bit of 1B, but not sure how much 3B. Arrambide was listed as " C/3B, OF".

You need more than one catcher.

Patrick can cover some ground out in the OF
My guess is he takes over CF with Curiel all but gone

5 yrs to play 5 seasons.

Both Milam(upcoming yr4) and Curiel(upcoming yr3) would still have leverage i assume.

What about Brown if his draft stock pushes him to end of round 2. He could come back and still have leverage

It's definitely uncharted waters. Its possible. It will be interesting to see how everyone else this season uses this new rule. Will MLB offer less after yr 4 than yr 3...they are selfish like that so. It will be interesting.

It’s not just leverage. All of three of those guys would be turning 23 in their first full season of pro ball. Many agents will advise against that.

I totally agree. But even then, that leaves out the possibility that 4 yrs of possible nil money(literally lifetime set up for some)may be more lucrative than signing an MLB contract to not ever even make it past A or AA ball. Players need to come to terms with their game play and realize does he have a real shot or not. For most its not. Id say Curiel has the best shot at the show. While Miliam has MLB potential at the 6 but he has an A level bat and Brown struggles against lefties and offspeed. Those pitfalls would maybe take yrs to fix if at all of which it may be too late by then, so why not stack nil first. Jmo.

I’m assuming you haven’t watched much baseball this year. Before injury Brown hitting over 300 against lefties, 6 home runs against lefties, which shows a big improvement. I don’t think MLB would draft guys in top 3 rounds and not have beliefs of them making it to the Bigs. I’d love all 3 back at LSU, but I do believe, along with many scouts, that they have the tools and ability to play in the MLB

Unless Pearson learns to hit SEC pitchers, he can pinch bit.
