Those selling autographs on ebay etc from LSU, it's WRONG!

I was at Saturday’s game and after waited with my 8 year old so he could get autographs for a foul ball we caught (ok I dropped but he scrambled to get) in 6th inning. We waited in the parking lot where players come out it become apparent that about half of people were there to get to sell or trade- how do I know this? They were chatting up what they get on eBay, avg age 20-40 each had several things to be signed. Look, I am not the compliance police, but do these bozos know/care they causing others with “legitimate” children to wait and at times miss the chance to get an autograph; they can cost the player eligibly? I copied the below from the LSU compliance. I’m sorry, but if you are selling this stuff you wasting players time so you can make money and could cause them NCAA issues while making it harder for KIDS to get autograph they are going to really enjoy.
Again, not trying to be a cop here, just think it is WRONG…I’m ready to be flamed but have to think most agree, I welcome everyone’s thoughts on this.
All autograph requests must be facilitated through the Compliance Office. Requests cannot be accepted by Marketing, Sports Information, the Ticket Office, individual sport offices or any other athletics department entity.
Student-athletes may provide autographs at pre-season Fan Days and other sanctioned promotional events. However, these autographs must not be sold or traded for money or any item of value as this could jeopardize the eligibility of the involved student-athlete.

If you are over the age of say 12 and you stand in a line to get an autograph, any autograph....you have bigger problems.

Fully agree. Making money off of college athletes is wrong, unless you are a university or the NCAA.

Sounds like a problem on our players part

What if you caught say....McGwire or Bond's record homerun ball and wanted it autographed.....do you still have a problem?

1) I have never gotten an autograph from anyone at any time in my life
2) I am SOOO tired of the "for the children" garbage.
3) I do not care what other people do for fun. I cannot understand sitting in a Duck Blind to shoot birds (but, others enjoy that). I have no interest in the Opera (but, others love it). If an adult wants an autograph of a football player...I don't PERSONALLY understand it. But, I'll not castigate him.

Yes, yes you would...because you should sell it for profit instead of getting it autographed

no issue and not my point, you "caught it" and because they are not college players....

I'm with you SECman. There may not be anything technically illegal about getting autographs just to turn around and sell them, but it does kind of suck that these parasites use up the players' time that could be spent giving a kid a great memento of the game he just saw.
On the flipside, I know a guy who has a whole closet full of autographed memorabilia, but he collects it and gives it all to school charity auctions to help them raise money. This guy really does it, but a lot of them will lie to the players and say anything for the autograph.
I am an acquaintance of a pro athlete in our community, and you would not believe the grown men who fawn over him like 3rd grade girls at a Katy Perry concert. The average 12 year old kid doesn't stand a chance in a crowd like that outside the locker room door. If I were a player I'd ignore the dads and autograph hounds and focus on the kids.
And the babes.

This is truth.....I can tell you right now if I was a high profile college athlete and knew that my autograph on an item, if sold, could cost me my eligibility and a chance at millions.....lets just say I'd be the a-hole that ain't signing a damn thing.
