Tanner Hill will be in the mound to start the game tomorrow. They have no one else

I don't think they will, but you're actually wrong in saying no coach would. It's happened quite a few times. College coaches have their own best interests in mind, often times.

You'd think that guys wouldn't be effective throwing that soon, and often times they aren't, but some have the ability to do it. However, the lasting effects can be devastating to a pitcher's arm. But, we see it happen sometimes, anyway.

I think a lot of the time it depends on circumstances too, this guy is a future 1st rounder whereas some of the other times this has happened it was guys who were not going to play baseball ever again or get drafted real late.

For one or two innings?

That seems insane.

Sure they have someone else. Nobody they threw tonight was anyone they counted on this year. And that is likely going to be the same game plan, only they'll probably have a couple of their better relievers available again.

You don't throw a guy out there, just 'cause. They know we don't have much to throw at them, either, so they'll be counting on being able to outscore whatever they give up.

Oh, for sure that happens sometimes, and you can understand that. But I remember when Tim Corbin did it with Mike Minor, and I'd have to go look it up to remember the other names, but I'm certain I've seen some other highly regarded pitchers being overused that way. It just amazes me when I see it.

I could be wrong, but from what I have read from USM fans and doing some research two of the likely pitchers to start for them are Ben Ethridge, 6'2 180lb RHP or Chandler Best, 6'0 195lb LHP

They would do well to throw as many lefties at us as they can. We just seem to forget how to hit when a lefty enters the game, at times. Not that we always hit righties, but... you know.

Exactly my point.

People are wetting their pants over a guy with 2 days rest on a 120 pitch outing.

If we can’t hit that, we need to go home!

Have you watched much LSU baseball, this is when a kid normally should only be able to throw an inning or two, but steps up and goes 5 or 6 innings of virtually no hit ball. Have you not seen this happen many times before ? Cause I have.. Throw in the kid is from Zachary and wasn't recruited by LSU ??. Can't you just see that storyline writing itself ?

I bet they use him for at least an inning or 2. I am not opposed to that. But we would need to hit the pitchers they throw first. He is not going to be their first or second option out of the bullpen due to him throwing so many pitches on Friday

I've seen Caleb Gilbert shut down the #1 team in the nation, and I've seen Alden Cartwright go 7 innings of (I believe) shutdown ball. It's not just our opponents who do it. This afternoon someone like Garrett Edwards might come out and roll through 6 or 7 innings.

Too much speculation here! USM pitched a guy yesterday named Storm, who had only pitched 9 innings all year... and look what he did... Tigers hitters were stymied by him! Same could happen today??? Wish LSUbhad a pitcher or two who could do the same, but this is a staff with zero confidence and lacking in ability!

LSU usually does a very good job of adjusting to pitchers. USM is going to be giving us one look at their guys, and we need to get him in that AB. Also, they will probably have a couple of junk ball pitchers who we are not used to seeing.

Neither team will probably pitch well today. I like our lineup in those circumstances.

I mean honestly we probably can get 3 innings out of Hilliard and maybe Hasty will have his stuff working for a few innings. And then bring in Gervase to shut it down the last 2 innings. But outside of that I'm not sure who we are going to trout out there with any confidence at this point.

7 innings out of those two seems like a pipe dream. Who isn't available? I'd imagine LSU will go to anybody and everybody even if it's just for a batter or two.

USM will do the same. Advantage yellow chickens.

I would bet my life savings (technically negative money due to grad school loans) that Ethridge will be the starter.

As a USM fan, I would love to tell you that he's someone you will struggle with...

Stuart is going to start for them and probably can go 4-5 innings so I don't necessarily agree with that.

Hilliard can get 3 innings and probably Hasty for 1-2 and then possibly Fontenot 1-2. And hope to get to the 8th or 9th and let Gervase close it out.
