100%? You can’t spare 1% for Nuss missing that simple throw to Anderson? For Lacy’s penalty? For Major Burn’s penalty?

A lot of the passes short of gain on 3rd down was Nuss pussing out under pressure, you blind if you didn't see that.

I'll never understand the long throws to the outside for 3 yards when first down is 4 yards. There's no way to turn up-field & get those extra yards when it's one on one. In addition, it's a dangerous throw where the defensive back can jump the route & take it to the house for a TD.

About the only bad pass he threw all game, but I was at the game and may have missed some of the replays.
Nuss played a good game but that throw that drew earthworms to Aaron Anderson on the last redzone drive was downright AWFUL.

I'm sorry but that simple throw was a must have with the game on the line.

Yes and no. Shitty play calling is not why our o-line was getting blown up.

He sucked but there’s a ton of data to show last night is the style of football Kelly wants to play. So yes he called a horribly bad game but within the confines of a flawed gameplan/system

Not true! We win that game with Joe or Jayden at QB with the same play calling. Nuss played good, but needs to make some adjustment and he'll be fine.

Guy called plays 1 year at LaTech and the head coach got first.
Too many of yall had false hope just because he is the primary recruiter on Bryce

Anyone have an insight as to what was going on when the camera caught Sloan screaming into the mike and his assistant reminded him he was on camera ?
He was pissed at something, whether players or Kelly. Any guesses ?

No shots downfield and vanilla arse run concepts.
What a disaster of a debut

Bunch of window dressing motions like we were going to do a jet sweep and didn’t run a single jet sweep play wtf

Agree the 3rd and 2nd to last drives sucked arse

Sorry, but y’all that are dumping on Kelly for his remarks either didn’t listen, did listen but are too stupid to comprehend, or are just flat out pussified.
Were there some in-game coaching errors? Sure. Were they the totality of the game? No.
I heard him take personal blame but also hold players accountable.
The two unsportsmanlikes alone, were difference-makers in the game. Full stop. Period. GFY if you don’t think so.
Getting in the red zone 3 different times with only 6 points to show for it against strong competition is just below par - plain and simple.
Add in the lack of total and cohesive ‘killer instinct’ and that’s all she wrote.
The other failures -coaching or otherwise- were just lagniappe.
And yes, USC (QB included) did make plays that LSU didn’t and they did not have unnecessarily suicidal penalties.
Kelly took blame and said he personally needs to do better.
But in this case, certain players’ actions especially, and certain team mentalities generally (I’m talking again to you, killer instinct), have to be owned by the players.
This game was so winnable it’s not even funny but, as has been said since forever, the coaches aren’t on the field playing the game…

Nuss missed some key passes in the second half. The real killer was more conservative 2nd half play calling which cannot be argued. Running the ball into piles was not the answer. Couldn’t effectively run in a 7 man box is a problem.
The offense as a whole choked in the second half, it’s that simple. Nuss felt the pressure, Sloan felt the pressure, the OL played worse.
USC was rushing 6 or more and played two high safeties all night. Pass pro was pretty good. Hit some shallow crossers in the middle. Take the dink and dunk, it was working well. Why deviate? Walk those safeties up and burn them deep. The only thing USC took away from us was rushing. Thankful for Emery being able to nut up. Take Emery out and we rushed for 50 yards.

Nuss has better arm talent than JD or Burrow, and we didn’t push the ball down the field at all.
I wont debate this comparison on the QBs but Nuss does not have Jefferson, Chase, and Marshall running routes for him

I'm glad your not the OC. USC played a 2 high zone almost all game. They essentially ran quarters coverage with 4 defenders staying back on most plays. That makes it very damn difficult to throw it deep down the field. If we would have tried Nuss would of had some interceptions.
I'm not saying Sloan called a great game but we wouldn't have had success throwing the long ball.
Where he could have improved is by taking more of what the defense was giving him with more underneath types of routes and better run game.
Also the O line stills need work. First trip to the goal line on 4th down the center completely missed a LB blitz up the A gap. It looked like he didn't even see the MLB blitz. Instead he was double teaming as some ran right past him in the A gap. That's inexcusable even at the Pop Warner level.
Lastly what was truly worrying is because USC committed four players to stay deep most plays, we were running into light boxes at the line of scrimmage.
The run game should have looked way better with our experienced line blocking light boxes. I'm worried how the run game will look when a team commits more players to the box.

So the losses to Fla St was the fault of the Special Teams Coach, and not Kelly.

What was the TD to Lacy & the play to Anderson on the last redzone drive? It's one thing to be critical but stop talking out of your arse.

I didn't get that. You have to at least run it once to make the defense have to respect it. Same goes for Nuss on the zone read fakes. What good are the fakes if the defense never has to fear Nuss keeping it & taking off around the end?
