That's exactly what I was told. I'm not an insider but my wife's boss is an alum and she texted me around 5 yesterday that the saban AD smoke was real and contingent upon the hiring of the bama guy over the mcneese guy. I don't know anything just corroborating I heard it too

Everyone says it couldn't work but why couldn't Austin Thomas stay in his role, handle NIL, and work with the coach to identify portal needs? In this case, Saban would just coach up what comes in through the portal and do his normal recruiting he's always done.
Any NIL question could be sent to Austin Thomas, he wouldn't even have to handle all of that nonsense he hates.

It's that 20 million a year that would bring him back
When you don’t need money, why would 20 million salary bring you out of retirement please explain
I bet ESPN is paying him all kinds of money
He owns all kinds of dealerships. He’s probably worth well over $100 million.
So at 74 when you know, you can’t outlive the money that you have in your bank account how does that motivate you?
That said because he is considered the best coach the appropriate salary would be. He’s the highest paid coach in Pro or college football.
You do that out of respect, but that’s not the reason he would come out of retirement

My dad never stopped investing and generating wealth despite no one in the family needing more money a decade ago. Some people just want to leave as much for their descendants as possible.

Please. Why get people all worked with this? And anyone who actually believes this will happen is beyond delusional.

I dont want Saban at this point. This isnt the Saban of 10 years ago and he wont get the massive talent advantage he used to get at bama

Greatest pull ever if LSU could land Saban.
Wouldn’t guarantee wins & championships but would guarantee bringing back toughness, discipline & order - obviously absent the past 4 years

Again, I know. Did you read to any of the posts I was responding to?

I wasn't informed on this one. Just reading tea leaves. Too many odd things yesterday.

Because for some people it’s not about the money. He probably has as a severe itch to keep going. Some people feel worthless and die early because they gave up their passion,
Not all people see retirement as going fishing and going into wood carving. Some people need the challenge. The challenge keeps them alive. It keeps them motivated. For them it’s what life is all about.
They are referred to as workaholics. So be it. It is what it is.

Could Saban be taking the HC position and grooming his replacement for 2-3 years and work as the assistant AD and take over as the AD position waiting for him?
I’m said this 3 days ago
That’s how you’d get him imo.
Whole lot for him to consider with this scenario.

Saban still knows people behind the scenes. The call happened for two reasons. They did want to see if he had any interest. He did not and two they wanted him to serve as an advisor to the search. The main topic was Lane Kiffin.
How can Saban advise LSU on its coaching search when he’s still on payroll at Bama as a consultant.
Conflict of interest much?

I think in his heart LSU is always his number 1. That would be the reason if any he would have one last stop
If he has any desire to get back into coaching this would be the easiest place for him to move into. Already knows people, coaches, location. Any other place would be starting over which he probably doesn’t want to do at his age. It’s probably now or never for him coaching one last time.

Exactly this. Supposedly his car dealerships alone make him worth several hundred million. Suposedly he is on his way be becoming a billionare He is 74 years old. Can't imagine him coming back.

Coach or AD? I find AD much easier to believe but how would the salary stack up to ESPN? His TV gig doesn't look like a grueling schedule
