I think Leavitt - 2018 Burrow is a good comp.
I'd love to see what we could be with him next year if we land some elite replacements in the portal

You say that. But look at the year before Burrow and Daniel’s won their heisman. OP is not far off on his comment.

Not even close. Leavitt is so uncomfortable in the pocket and has no feel for pressure besides taking off and running.

The jump that Burrow took was astronomical. It’s genuinely rare you see QBs get THAT much better in a year time span. Even Daniels is the same case.
Not saying Leavitt has to be AS good as those guys but I wouldn’t necessarily count on some huge jump from him.

I said the same thing about Jaden in regards to being like Burrow. Everybody complained he through a terrible deep ball, and then, the next season, it’s like he somehow figured it all out.

I said it in thread last night I remember many on this board saying we needed to move on from the Big 10 retread (Burrow) after 2018 UF game. Burrow took an incredibly bad sack that led to a late turnover in the red zone and ended all hope with a late 4Q pick 6.
There’s no substitute for time and experience in a system. Am I saying that Sam is Burrow? No. I am saying that Sam has much more upside than we have seen so far. Exactly what that is remains to be seen but his competitiveness (like Burrow) is unmistakable.

Leavitt is not and will never be in the same universe.

The difference was Burrow had never started before so was capable of making a huge jump and Daniels had 2 superstar receivers to help him out. Leavitt has a lot of room to improve. The talent is there but he doesn't have it between the ears yet. We need to get him some better receivers next year though. The line would improve if he would stay in the pocket and go through his progressions

People's memories are shite. Same thing was said about Daniels his first year at LSU. People always remember the growth. They don't remember the issues prior to the greatness.
