Good post. Hey,last time I looked, we have lost only 1 game and have an opportunity to win a lot more. People were saying the same negative things in 2007 at this point.

Thanks, pimp. Way too many Chicken Littles around here. The level of panic over every setback is just ridiculous.

A lot of the pissed offness is the impression that we are not performing to what we could, not the record we have.

Defense shaped up compared to the start of the year, kudos.

But Miles needs to be pressed hard on the issue of RS and not allowed to cop out "well I didn't think it would be fair putting him in a difficult situation."

He did the SAME EXACT shite LAST YEAR with JJ.

If you would believe Miles's coach speak, Lee's injury came at EXACTLY the right time because JJ simply wasn't prepared to take a single snap up till the point he was thrust as the full time starter.

Trying to excuse that lapse by pointing out how bad we were in the not so distant past is silly...so you are fine with what LSU does as long as it is above average and the occasional 10-2 or even a NC seasons are just lagniappe?

And the funny thing is that you had birds chirping this song last year after our first too loss...but quietly began to disappear as the losses kept on piling up. What is what happens when you try to make a general statement based on what we have without looking at how we got there.

Completely disagree. I would wager that most of the squeakiest wheels on this board had the most negative preseason predictions. That's what I don't get.

Some people think this team stinks, which is fine, and they get all upset over losses that haven't even happened yet. and if they do happen, they get so pissed because they've been living that loss for two months.

If you thought the team was gonna be 8-4, why are you ticked right now?

if you are in this for the Long Haul, you need to react to failure, adversity, bad breaks, injuries, bad officiating, bone-headed coaching etc. [u]with some semblance of maturity-or you risk making it UNFREAKING UNBEARABLE for the rest of us.

I'm not suggesting we all ignore the OBVIOUS, but that we act like adults, and raise the discourse from the truly lowest ranter levels. Which you did.

Good points from a guy sold on being stuck in mediocrity. We are 5-1 with a squeak of a win against the worst of the worst in the SEC. Are we better, yeah, but thats not saying much. Soon we will become the South Carolina of the West. Middle of the pack team that doesn't suck but never contends for championships.

Again to what I said about them not performing to what they could. You are looking at their record again as opposed to how they got there.

I promise you that if we score only 3 points in a similar manner to Auburn 06 there would be a LOT less bitching about the team.

If the offense had put up a decent effort and just came up short...then yes, your argument holds.

But that didn't happen so it doesn't.

dude...
there were 93,000 people at that game
the aisles in the student section were full of people the whole game because there were no more seats and every one of us were trying to cause an earthquake. But instead of talking about that, your pissed how people were leaving after an interception that gave our amazing offense time for one more chance to practice our 3 plays:
-scott up the middle into a brick wall
-penalty
-sack
The game was over, quit bitching.

I concede, you are right. We are not wasting talent and the team has no problems. We shouldn't discuss any of our team's problems on a fan site devoted to that team.
And the coaching staff is infallible.

Well, looking at the record is pretty important. But that's missing my point entirely. My point is not that we're 5-1 and therefore everything is rosy, my point is the people who are bitching the loudest right now had very low expectations going into the season.

I could understand if you thought this was an 11-0 kind of team that wasn't living up to your expectation, but you cannot honestly tell me you thought this team had any realistic shot at 11-0 in the preseason.

This team is who we thought they were. It's hard for me to be wildly upswt with a team that is largely meeting my expectations.

- 1

Frustration should not be confused with negativity.

Having taught and coached before, you should expect 100% effort from the coaches and the players.

I think that when PERCEPTION does not seem to support that, it becomes reality.....

I think a lot of people are just frustrated with the caliber of recruits vs the caliber of play.

I have been around since most of you were born...on many years, I felt that a record 9-3 for example made a very good year.....

....talking into consideration personnel, etc.
Frustration comes in when we do not seem to be aggressive enough in our play calling.....I put this on coaches.

I looked up this morn to see if my perception of poor discipline was supported by fact...it is.

in the list of fewest no. of penalties, we are # 117 out of 119....I put this on coaches

I was proud of our D, the rose to the occasion and based on the 13 pts allowed we should have won...that's where I think people go crazy.

Our offense played hard, can not falter them for that....the plays they were given to execute were poor.....I put this on coaches

Yes, right now, I see where fans are frustrated....and let's not forget, the year that our coaches put our fans thru LAST YEAR with that 2 headed monster of D coordinators....
you can not put it all on the fans.

Remember, the fans BUY (with actual money) a product called football, they expect that to be a quality product....and this is the only store that sells LSU FOOTBALL, so "bitching" as you would call it, is the only way that dissatisfaction can express itself..

Sure, it would satisfy our egos to live in an alternate Universe where all our football dreams are fulfilled and every day is Christmas.

The Tigers are 5-1.
They are better than the teams they have beaten.
They are worse than the team that beat them.
Looking forward they should be favored in every game except one (possibly two).
I expect this team to rise to the occasion and meet and possibly exceed our expectations.
This break comes at a perfect time.
Lets get behind our guys (that INCLUDES our coaching staff) and try to create a positive environment that allows our team to succeed.
It's a little too early for the nuclear option guys, let's stand behind our team, not undercut team morale.

One play...one possession...one quarter...one game at a time.

BEAT AUBURN !

I don't think anyone has a problem with fan's talking about the problems related to the team, but the ones that react to every little play like their life depended on it are the ones that he is targeting.

Don't go off generalizing every negative voice in the crowd as a "New Generation of LSU fan".

As was stated, we're one of the most talented team in the nation, yet also one of the lowest ranked offenses. When does it become time to say something instead of shovelling crap under the rug and pretending it won't stink?

Our D is alive and well. I feel like its one of the bright spots on the team since they've begun to understand the scheme fully and are just going out and playing.

What are you talking about, "A positive environment that allows our team to succeed"? Was 93,000 people, a gold blanketed stadium, and a student section that didn't quit yelling until the end not enough for you?

Wait, we haven't played any good teams? Dude, put in those terrible Florida/Georgia teams against us last year and they're blow-outs. We've played quality teams and won and lost by 10 to a better than most Florida team. Bama may beat us but the rest are easily won if we got ANY production from the offense.
