2/3 match-up zone killed their offensive game plan. Ball rotation and good 3pt shooting would solve a lot of that. It seemed like they were overly anxious in the paint.

I said it in the live thread and I'll say it again - These girls find a way to win. When their backs are to the wall and they have to reach down deep and come up with something, they always manage to. They don't fold. They don't quit. They fight hard and work together.
They deserve benefit of the doubt now, despite the fact that there's still a group of imbeciles here will call for Mulkey's head next time someone misses a shot....

I don't believe they can beat SC but that isn't bad. This team has only played together twenty plus games. SC is a very talented and veteran team. WE coming.

Sunday's game in Collie Station should not press our ladies too much. Then we get a week off before going to Columbia to play Carolina. Carolina plays at UConn Sunday then at Auburn on Feb 8.

You don’t beat a zone like that by holding the ball. Pass it. Move it. Keep moving it. Eventually someone will be late rotating and you get an open shot.
We just didn’t do that. Williams two turnovers and Morris turnover at the end were symptomatic of that. They would hold hold the ball and then the refs were letting them be very physical slapping all the ball. You just can’t do that. You’re not running a pick and roll against the zone.
That said. They fought back on a night where they just seemed tired. That’s good stuff

Morris is the key as I’ve said, Reese is the steady force and a double-double machine, but this team goes as far as Morris takes them. She’s the difference maker. She wasn’t on tonight, and it was a struggle, but against good competition, we will lose without her blowing up…She found her game late tonight and pulled it out. We would have been beat without her going off on Tenn, and will get killed by USC if she doesn’t come to play….

Honestly, I was not all that impressed with the performance vs. Tennessee. We had two big runs and were sluggish otherwise and really struggled against their full-court press.
We IMHO are not going to beat the Lady Cocks this year, they are better.
But next year and beyond I don't think they will be and it will become as good a rivalry as will have seen since Geno vs. Pat in women's hoops as the two coaches don't like each other...I don't think Geno and Pat like each other either.

Georgia played a different 2/3 and 1/2/2 zone. They gave up the foul line pass but would sag and clog up the lane. With lsu not shooting well it gave them trouble. Not many play that D.
