The same old lsu team implied we make the tournament. Get out the first round.
Possibility lose the second round. Definitely don’t get out of the 3rd round.
I don’t understand how you aren’t comprehending this.
If that is pretty dang good - then great!
But to me - it’s what we’ve seen the last 3-4 years. Which is why I made the comment that this is the same old LSU team.
Would I make you happy if I put “same old LSU coach wade team”?
It is a VERY small sample size and it is VERY early in the season. But over three games there are sings this could be a much better defensive team than the last two teams. That would very much make it NOT the "same old LSU coach wade team."
LSU is turning opponents at a very high rate right now. Something they did not do the last two seasons, and something they MUST do to have success under Wade's defensive approach (which isn't predicated on forcing teams to grind out the shot clock and take tough shots). Liberty is traditionally an efficient offense that doesn't turn the ball over much. LSU forced 21 TO's last night. LSU also held Liberty under 40% shooting. The 3rd straight game they've held an opponent to 40% or less.
For reference, LSU let a crappy SIUE team shoot 51% last season, followed up by allowing St. Louis to shoot 55%
Liberty was the first barometer to check in terms of determining whether or not this team was better defensively. LSU passed that test. The next one will be next Monday vs. Belmont. It is still too early to definitively say this is a better defensive team than in years past. But right now there are some early signs indicating they very well could be. If so, this IS NOT the same old LSU team.

Same old LSU team if you ask me.
Stupid mistakes - lane violation on a free throw, throw the ball out of bounds on inbound pass, foul a guy before the inbound pass on the other side of the court.
Liberty looked like they invented the pump fake tonight on the court.
What a miserable stupid pu$$y you are. Just wait they'll have a bad game and this pu$$y will be on here screaming "I told you so". So pathetic

Eason off the bench can do it all.
Eason so far has been what I had hoped Watford would have been. Watford was a good player and had more potential, but Eason's ability to play within himself and take advantage of mismatches that naturally occur within the flow of the offense is a really nice addition. I noticed it a little bit in the Texas State game when they were giving us a little token pressure and we played Eason in the middle of the floor to help our guards. We did that with Watford and the results were a mixed bag as a decision maker to say the least.
A few things have stood out to me so far:
-- We've been great in the second half each game and I think that's a result of multiple things. (1) Coaching adjustments (2) coachable high effort players (3) ability to get defensive stops (4) the depth to have fresh legs down the stretch.
-- Multiple effort defense. We've turned over opponents a lot so far, but we also have forced a lot of shot clock violations. We've defended deep into the clock and been patient and attentive on that end. The depth and also quicker point of attack defense than we've had the last two years helps here too.
-- Efton has struggled defending in space. That said, he seems like a very aware player who understands his role, floor spacing, and where to be and I think you will see him continue to improve rather quickly because of his understanding of the game. Had some really nice rim protection moments, the runner/floater just inside the FT line off of the pick and roll was a thing of beauty, and the step out clutch 3 was obviously very impressive.
-- So far we haven't struggled in-bounding the ball and breaking the press and hopefully this continues as we play against better athletes going forward. Just really fundamental basketball that we have had trouble executing down the stretch the last two years.
-- Obviously Days has been tremendous production wise but having him as the unquestioned leader with the effort and unselfishness he plays with is infectious and hopefully his teammates continue to feed off of that even on nights Days' shot isn't falling. Days is going to have a long career in the NBA.

quote:I trust everyone in the starting lineup to take an open 3 with perhaps the exception of Pinson. Unfortunately it looks like Pinson will take at least 4-5 a game, but that is what it is I guess. He does make up for it in other areas, but should be more disciplined when guys like Days and Murray are on the court.
I wouldn’t say deep. Pinson, for example is 2-12 from 3.
Murray sits at 5-11, which would be huge if he can keep it up
But the team as a whole outside of Days is shooting 31%.
They were 4-20 vs ULM & shot 3-12 tonight outside of Days

The train to what?
A round 2 exit of the tournament?
You sound like a spoiled bitch. So only 2019 LSU football level teams can be praised? Even if this team makes a round 2 exit THAT IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ANYTHING WE DID IN BBALL PRIOR TO WADE!
This team plays hard and is really fun to watch. If you can't look at them play and see that they are much improved in a lot of areas that we have struggled with in the past then you are just trying to see the glass half empty.
Also I'll answer your SEC record question. First off, It doesn't matter what our record will be this year compared to last year because the SEC as a whole is much better this year as opposed to last year. Its not an apples to apples comparison. My guess is that we will go 12-6 in SEC play.

Either way this squad makes it to the group of 32. At BEST - they could get to sweet 16. That’s the ceiling.
I'm calling you an idiot because you are saying that having the 3rd best season in the last 20 years would somehow be a failure. Yes making it to the second round of the tourney is something that a program that was in the cellar a few years ago should celebrate. Do we want to go further? of course. But to say that winning a tourney game is not enough is ridiculous.

Again, You are an idiot. You keep saying that making the tourney every year and winning a game or two is somehow a disappointing thing...

Wow, ECOTIGER had a tough run in this thread
I agree, OP. This team is very good and closes out these games exceptionally well. I'm loving it so far!

Nice post Alt26. You are one of the few posters who has been around long enough to give things a historical perspective. Also one of the few people who spends the time to look up stats so you know what you are talking about.

True this. The SEC seems to be stacked this year with great round ball talent.

I’ll wait and see what happens when we play a top 25 team of course
December 29th LSU starts SEC play and the schedule gets real, this may be a scrappy team that plays defense and surprise people.
This team will define Will Wade as a coach. As the season progresses depth will be a huge issue as was last season. Losing most of his starting lineup along with a huge injury if W.W. can get to the NCAA tournament and win a few games then this guy will have performed brilliantly.
