Did you seed your model with the history of SEC ref calls against LSU?
Think things like Vadal Alexander pulling the Bama guy off the pile calls.

For week 1 predictions, it uses coach ratings (which is its own model that rates coaches going back to 1870 - head coach, OD, and DC), player ratings from the previous year (which is also its own model), and recruiting rankings. By week 5-6, these factors are almost completely diluted and it's just based on results from the current season.
The entire purpose of the model to predict spreads/scores - that's it.

People are giving Ole Miss too much credit. LSU will beat them by at least 3 scores. They barely beat a bad LSU last year, and now they have inferior coaching and roster.

The model really likes Texas right now. But again, it's heavily based on roster at the moment. This will quickly dilute over the next couple weeks and ratings will be based more on results.
