1. This is a rebuild with a new staff and players

2. Kelly will make the best adjustments to keep the team competitive

3. Noone said its perfect, but it's hard to argue with the results

4. Joe is a pro now and ain't coming back

Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

He has zero ability to anticipate the passes. By the time he sees guys open, the are usually no longer open before he can let it go.

Good QBs understand what they are looking for before they start. The ball is ready to come out before the player is open. And, because of that throws aren't rushed.

He's a good kid, who seems like a good leader. I think people like him. But, he doesn't have the intangible QB skills.

We're almost assured a bowl at this point. We're looking like 8-4 might just be a strong possibility. We're on track, this was never going to be a championship season. Focus on what mthe team is doing well and you'll be much happier throughout this season.

This team has "give a shite" and you can work with that, which has been lacking the past couple of years. There is a lot of potential for growth and we have a legit coaching staff. It's going to be a bumpy season, no doubt, but I'm enjoying this team and they're fun to watch overall.

In 2019 we rarely went with 4 WR's. 3 wides a TE and CE was our most used formation. Those guys had no trouble finding openings in the D. We just need to play better.

That sounds great, but completely ignores what was great about that team, all of which this offense lacks. Moss and CEH were incredibly versatile. Both could block and catch and CEH was perfectly suited to run out of the shotgun behind a line that was good, but wasn’t perfect. They were a matchup nightmare because we could run pretty much anything with that personnel grouping. We also had a QB and WRs who could hit you with a deep ball at any time, from anywhere on the field. All of this stretches defenses and constantly put them at matchup disadvantages.

We run plenty of 11 personnel sets now, but we aren’t on the same planet as far as what we can do with out of them. Mason Taylor will be a good TE, but he’s been forced into a bigger role than he’s really ready for. He is good, but somewhat inconsistent as a receiver and average at best as a blocker.

Williams has really stepped up as a versatile back who can block, catch and run, but let’s be honest. As much as I love his heart and effort, he isn’t CEH. No one else is. And this OL also isn’t as good as 2019’s.

At least Williams and Taylor are effective. Our deep passing game is completely non-existent, and that is absolutely KILLING this offense. Any competent DC will just compress the field knowing Daniels won’t even try to throw it deep and either play a lot of zone or just spy him to limit his ability to run. We aren’t going to play another DC like Arnett who will blitz and play man no matter what, so what we saw Saturday is what we will see every week going forward. It’s going to get progressively harder to execute short and intermediate passes until someone starts hitting deep passes to back the defense off and stretch them out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the DL technique is to "mush rush". You rush four and make sure the QB does not get past you. That requires everyone on the DL to maintain their lanes and it forces a non-throwing QB like JD to throw. It's basically what AU did to us Saturday night and it pretty much worked expect for the designed QB runs when the LB was forced to cover the RB out of the back field and the DE was well blocked Daniels gained some yards.

Tennessee will follow the same script at the AU defense. It was effective. They will be betting they can score more than 17 points against the LSU defense.

Bottom line is, JD need to make a few down field throws. When he does that it easier for him to run...heck it opens up everything.

Just a reminder for everyone that OP bitched about scoring drives during multiple wins because it meant Daniels wouldn’t get benched.

A very good analysis of Daniels. Unfortunately, his issues are not correctable.

Depends on your definition of sustain

Les Miles sustained 12 years with the Les Miles Offense

Yep, and significantly more speed.

I'm with you on this one, don't think he is enough better than Bech here, if at all, and bech adds so much more to the passing game.

I’ve said the same thing all year. If you look at his pass completion on explosive plays and at it on balls beyond 20 yards downfield he is really poor. Before the weekend hi avg per completion was 7.6ish and 9+ is where you want to be. This isn’t good considering the competition.
