quote:Imagine if Jefferson were to play really well. We wouldn't be having these conversations, however, he's not and we are. I've taken a wait and see approach...and I'm still waiting.
Imagine if he had thrown a pick 6 up 20-14 Saturday when WVU was unlikely to score on their own merit.
I think people need to get over the whole "pick 6" syndrome. Sure we all have nightmares about it but we won't know how far Lee has come unless he's given the chance to show it. This weekend against UT would be a prime time to let him dust the dirt off and try to provide a spark. If he hasn't done anything by halftime...sit him for the second half.
And the same can be said for Jefferson. If HE hasn't turned things around by halftime...put Lee in and let's see what happens.
I'm not taking sides...what I am wanting to see is one of them to step up and let this talented offense fly. I want to see production and an offense that can move the ball at will. We have the talent for that. If Jefferson is able to do that then we can say that's what we've been waiting on. If Lee does it...then we have to ride that horse.
Either way...one of them needs to step up.

I thought 2003 wasn't supposed to be our year but it was.
What makes you think QB will be good enough in 2011?

Everyone that feels the same way I do, that this coaching staff needs a new leader, I invite you to Listen to MNF tonight

Offense fricking sucks and nothing has changed and their might be an answer on the sidelines, but we still run the same bullshite.
And coach what might that answer be? You guys see alot but your probable solution has shown to be a big problem as well. Provide a credible solution, internet coaches, and maybe logic will prevail. The problem with Jefferson struggling is evident but to want a change just to satify your Sunday morning coaching meeting is absurd.

You cant make me believe that JJ owns JL in practice to the point that th coaching staff can justify not playing him.
I'm not at practice, but Miles sees the same game stats that you do, is well-aware that the passing game has to improve and his refusal to name Lee the starter (or even to give him meaningful reps) tells me that your scenario is exactly what is happening at practice.

Here's an idea, give Lee a TRY. Nobody is clairvoyant, we don't know for sure if he's going to be the complete answer. But we do know that right now Jefferson is completely inept.
Let's say Ridley was averaging 1.2 yards a carry so far, and fumbled 4 times. Do you honestly think we wouldn't try other backs? Why is QB the only position that cannot be touched?

quote:You do realize we've been 4-0 the last 2 seasons right? Take off the blinders man! We've been beating teams by talent, defense, and special teams. If we don't get better on our passing game the good teams will stack the box, and dare JJ to throw it down field.
LSU is 4-0 with wins against 4 BCS schools and beat 2 ranked opponents. LSU has probably played a tougher schedule (or close to it) than any other 4-0 team. They are ranked #10 in the subjective polls and ranked even higher in the computer polls that don't account for preseason rankings. LSU has arguably the best defense and special teams in the nation. And there is nothing but negativity and anger towards the teams and coaching staff.
What has LSU football come to that we can't enjoy an undefeated team and a top 10 ranking? Is LSU football really only going to be fun for us for the rest of our lives if we win 11 games a year AND dominate in those games? There was a time that going 8-5 and winning the Peach Bowl was a blast, but the fanbase is miserable with this?
We might finish 8-5 (at the very worst imo) and I will complain then. But to bitch and moan about a top 10 team with one flaw at the QB position is ridiculous. I will enjoy our record, the impending winning season, and the potential to have double digit wins (which is more than possible with luck and/or a little improvement at QB).

Aside from the first half of UNC...when were we in a position that we could tolerate a Lee mistake.
JJ is putrid, but his mistakes GENERALLY allow you to punt...Lee makes ones that can lose the football game.
I for one am ok with a Pick 6 and a loss if that is what it takes to give Lee a shot.
IF he avoids those costly mistakes, maybe we can get a spark.
But lets face it, he threw one crossing pattern the other night and was WAAAYYYY behind his receiver, a recipe for a pick if a D is even worth a shite.

LSU must be offering a degree in Sunshine Pumping, and you must have a 4.0 grade point average in your major.
If we had scheduled real SEC teams such as Bama, Florida, Auburn and Arkansas at the head of our schedule instead of two of the weakest SEC team in the conference and an ACC team missing 9 starters plus a West Virgina team who almost lost to Marshall, where do you think we would be ranked right now?
Do you think we would be 0-4 right now. Well if we don't change QBs, we are assured to crash and burn out of the top 20.

JJ's two int the other night was at least a 10 point swing. First one was in easy FG range for Jasper, 2nd was basically a pick 6 since WVU scored in 2 plays after(I still don't know how the DB fell down on that one
Obviously the first one was on Tolliver, so let's be honest and say JJ cost us 7 points Saturday night.

But yes, it is quite possible that a couple pick 6s could have given the opposition points that our defense refuses to give up.
Oh, so now JJ gets a pass on his pick 6s (they scored anyway) and his ints in the EZ. Your bias is showing. JJs int made it a 6 pt game

Funny, this being the best post in this thread, has been ignored through 4 pages by the OP
You are going to celebrate being 4-0- when we started that way that last 2 years, which were disasters?
anyone that knows football can see this team has problems on offense, and once we play legit teams, will get exposed.
Celebrate now all you want. Will you be around to say you are wrong when things start to go bad??

Only problem is one guy on his pit crew takes forever to change his tire... pit stops take twice as long as every other team, thanks to that one guy. If that guy would have even been mediocre, the race would have easily been won. How frustrated would you be?

But this defense is so damn good that we dominate the field position battle and it is also impossible to score on us (much).
Ok, that is a bit much. The competition has been alright to this point, but come on. Lets see how they do against the big boys before we get carried away.
As for as fans not enjoying 4-0...The bar was raised with the last 2 National Championships. It is not unfair for fans to feel frustrated when they see Obvious Problems (understated) which are not being addressed properly.
The defense cant do it all every week. They are going to break unless the offense contributes something of substance!

What we need to do is start Jarret Lee against Tennessee. see what happens.Cause im pretty damn they wont be a problem with this weekend..
See how he does against their awful D.
Then hopefully we can find our STARTING qb for Bama

lsumatt - I think its the very fact that we have this great defense and special teams and still cannot move the ball on offense that is the cause of angst. Even with an ok offense, this is one of those championship caliber teams.
Have not moved the ball consistantly. They have however,.put drives together when needed.

I think people are more angered by Les stubborness and unwillingness to try out other options at QB. Lee threw alot of int, and was benched for his ineptness. Jefferson is as equally inept with no consequence. This is what the fanbase (at least me) is so aggravated about. Play Lee, if he fails miserably, noone can say Les didnt try all options.
Well said. Lee has had a couple seasons to learn from his mistakes and hopefully correct them. I can tell you one thing.....he didn't get 18 chances (starts) to get it right.
Is Miles "afraid" of the success Lee may have???? Strange thought, but could have merit.
