yes, matt, the defense WAS bad then... and according to some around here, it was only fixed when Chavis just stumbled into Baton Rouge

Yeah, I agree. I think some credit needs to be given. People want to blame Miles for not using the talent, bit don't credit him for bringing in the talent.

Once again LSUMATT you bring a great point of view to the rant. Some of these posters will ALWAYS be negative.

I actually believe all the anger on this board has been directed to only one unitt of the team. And really only to one part of that unit! Otherwise I have seen nothing but praise. And I think that the outlashes at that part of the team many feel is not where it should be is because they realize how good the rest of the team is and how special this could all turn out to be if that one unit kicks it into gear here sometime soon!

Usually I agree with most things you post matt, but I just can't on this one. I mean JJ is throwing his share of INT's so far. It is mostly bad luck when a QB throws that many pick 6's. JJ is not even really managing the game at this point, it is mostly handing off. Seems like 98% of JJ's passes are within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and 90% of those are within 5 (and still has a horrible completion %).

I just want some decency at the QB position.

We may lose Peterson this year which would be a huge hole. He's the best player on this team.

Great point, though I think we'll survive this.

How badly does JJ have to play for us to do this?

Exactly, How come JJ gets 2 seasons to improve, yet JL gets nothing? He was a RS Frosh when he threw all those pics and he hung in here at LSU. Kids got balls, hes 2 yrs older, when is his time to show hes improved??? You cant make me believe that JJ owns JL in practice to the point that th coaching staff can justify not playing him.

We are almost last in the nation in all passing categories.

Eh, I still think this is a rebuilding year and 2011 should be our year full of seniors.

thats what bama said last year.

and who gives a shite what lsumatts expectations were. were good enough NOW to win it all. except for the QB, which Miles refuses to address.

Matt,

I am simpatico with you in many regards.

But, Lee DESERVES a fair opportunity. He has worked hard and stuck with LSU, when most young guys would have given up.

Our offense is impotent 4 straight games, and he still doesn't get a chance?

The fans want to see if he might make a difference, and the kid has patiently waited his turn.

After his hard work and loyalty to LSU, how can he not be given at least one half to show the coaches, the fans, and his teammates whether he can make a difference?

I think he should play at least half of the Tenn game. If he is not an obvious improvement at QB, no one will mind keeping JJ as the starter after that.

Some more PERSPECTIVE for you. People b*tched and moaned 2 yrs ago when the team was 4-0 and had various complaints mostly related to the C0 -DC's. Guess what? There fears became reality and it turned out to be a HORRIBLE decision. Fans had to endure that decision ALL THE WAY to the end of the season.

The following year, fans took issue with Miles speaking a little too highly of the offensive line in the begiining of the season. Turned out the O-line was not very good (to put it mildly). Also many felt that JJ was too conservative and held the ball too long before making a decision. Hey, we started 4-0 and people thought it was silly to be worrying about the team. After losing games and playing ultra conservative against UF for instance, their fears were once again realized.

Fast forward to this season. We are once again 4-0 and some fans are extremely worried with the offense being putrid. Do you honestly think that we are the ONLY team in the SEC with talented players on defense and special teams? Is it inconcievable that UF, Bama, and POSSIBLY Auburn and Arky also has talented players on their team? Yes, we have beat the lower tier SEC teams, a sevelry depleted UNC team, and a WVU team that is the best team in a conference that has exactly 1 win against a BCS school. That win came against Maryland.

Not being rude or arguing but it is worth noting the offensive woes of this team considering we will no longer play too many more lower tier SEC schools.

Okay... I'd love to see the link to your post where you give Les Miles credit for the defense we have this year....

Our RB's are studs, and they are producing with 0 help from the passing game. Imagine how effective our running game would be if we could keep the defense stretched with any resemblence of a play action verticle passing game??? With the backs rushing for 150 a game against 8 in the box all night, I think that shows that our o-lne and our recievers are doing their jobs well in blocking. QB is the problem.

I am not disputing that the QB position is awful, that I want improvement, and that I would like Lee to have a shot. But I am still gonna be happy at 4-0 and our schedule.

Me too, and I would like to see a change. But I am not 100% certain we would be 4-0 had the backup played

But this defense is so damn good that we dominate the field position battle and it is also impossible to score on us (much).
My question is why put too much on the defense. Their shoulders were loaded last season , but it seems to be worse this yr. It past time for the offense to step up at least a little. I feel bad for the guys on defense having to play their heart out and still having to endure the bad attention the O is causing. The D is pulling its weight.

We could be 3-1 and have a 10x better chance with the rest of our schedule, given any number of different circumstances that are now present.

Do I need to be more specific?

why not?

because Lee throws horrible picks and Jefferson doesnt? Did you see his pick against Vandy? Or what about the pick against WV that would have easily gone for a pick 6 if the WV player didnt trip over himself?

the "at least Jefferson doesnt lose us game" argument is quickly becoming invalid

Because I am not 100% sure of anything, other than what has happened (i.e our 4-0 record)

But yes, it is quite possible that a couple pick 6s could have given the opposition points that our defense refuses to give up.

well then you're an idiot. the "starter" threw for 101 yards a game with 2 TDs and 4 INTs. im optimistic that literally anyone on the team could have matched those lofty numbers.

LSU is 4-0 with wins against 4 BCS schools and beat 2 ranked opponents.

North Carolina was missing over 9 starters from their team.

Mississipi St. gained more yardage than our offense.

Vanderbult embarrassed our Qb.

West Virgina lost because their RB got injured and our special teams scored a TD.

Do you think any of these teams can beat Florida, Bama, Auburn or Arkansas.

If Lee isn't better, so be it, but what if he is?

I hate to change coaching staffs, but Miles has to go!
