This offense is built for rushing yards coming from QB legs. They haven’t tweaked it to Nuss’s game.
Loved Clemson game when we used screen game as run proxy. Why have we gotten away from that last two games?

Well, the Rantards would tell you that Kelly didn’t want to show too much

No one wants to talk about it, but we lack the horses on that side of the ball. Who are our threats? Where is the explosiveness?

That is coaching. The whole O staff needs to improve. But it all starts in the trenches. The O line needs the most help.
Kelly mentioned in the press conference that Durham's long run to seal the game was out of I formation with a fullback. I didn't catch if at the time of the run. He also said it they need to do more of that then they will.
It will be interesting going forward if Sloan, Atkins & Kelly indeed utilize I formation with a fullback more often the rest of the season. About midway last season, I started feeling that Caleb Jackson was more of an old school back like Fournette who excels at being to follow a lead fullback then make his one necessary cut based off the block of the fullback. Utilizing I formation with a fullback may not only jump start the run game period but it may also lead to having another reliable RB besides Durham if doing so can ignite Jackson's game.

Alex Atkins, the former offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Florida State, has been named LSU’s tight ends coach and run game coordinator, head coach Brian Kelly announced on Wednesday.
Atkins joins the Tigers after nearly five years at Florida State where he helped the Seminoles to a 13-1 mark as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in 2023. Florida State finished the 2023 season ranked No. 5 in the final CFP Poll and played in the Orange Bowl.
He joined the Seminoles in 2020 as offensive line coach for two years. He added offensive coordinator duties in 2022 and in his first season directing the Florida State offense, the Seminoles won 10 games and ranked No. 10 nationally in total offense with 484 yards per game.
“We are excited about Alex and his addition to our staff,” Kelly said. “He brings a great deal of experience as a coordinator, but more importantly his depth and background in the run game as an offensive line coach, he adds another perspective in that room with (offensive line coach) Brad (Davis). Brad has done a great job. This is really having somebody who will coach the tight ends and have a specific focus towards our run game and how it matches with what I’m looking for in our overall offensive structure.
”Having somebody that is dedicated to that, having somebody that has his eye on it every day, I felt like where we are today, that was a great need. To get someone with his type of experience in building runs games, the need and the timing, make it a great fit.”

So. Alex. What have you been up to lately?

Fla’s D line controlled the game.

Last year we struggled to run the ball
Durham didn't play against USC or Nicholls to start the season but exploded against South Carolina only dislocate several toes in his foot 2 weeks later against South Alabama hindering him the rest of the season.
quote:
It appeared as if Durham would become a key part of the offense. Two weeks later against South Alabama, Durham was well on his way to the best day of his career when he felt something strange after digging his foot into the ground to gain more yards. He came to the sideline and saw an indented mark on his cleat. The trainers slowly started to take it off, but Durham assured them there was nothing wrong with him.
Then he looked down. His toes were pointed in different directions. He had dislocated multiple toes on his left foot, including his big toe. Now trainers had to pop them back into place.
Nothing would be the same after that.
Durham told the coaching staff he could play through the pain, refusing to sit out. Kelly never publicly disclosed the injury, and Durham played through it, ultimately starting five more games after South Alabama. To keep playing, Durham had to wear a cleat multiple sizes larger than normal. Trainers placed a steel insert inside the cleat to help give him stability, then another insert to buffer any discomfort from the metal in his shoe, then an insole on top.
When he was not playing or practicing, Durham had to wear a walking boot. He also developed turf toe on his right foot. Nothing helped the constant pain. Numbing shots on his foot were out of the question because they would prevent him from feeling the ground while running. Tylenol and ibuprofen also did not work. He simply had to play through it, even though his speed had dropped significantly.

Then you had Dellinger go down against Texas A&M. Between those 2 injuries, the running game & pass production simply wasn't the same. You are trying to compare apples to oranges here.

I didn’t say anything about injuries or when guys started playing. I said the same issues we had last year we are still having this year. Which is true.

Maybe not the same offense but the same results. Capisce?

I agree 100%.
The reason BK lost his shite on Cauble last night was because BK himself is the reason the offense is sluggish. They are overly concerned about remaining balanced which is why they constantly run the ball for no gain. It’s like they’re playing roulette to determine the next play, and occasionally Sloan is confident enough to do something “crazy” like run a skinny post with Anderson or a screen/slant with Thomas. Take what the defense gives you and make them defend every blade of grass.

Yeah & without providing any insight as to why either. It's a sloppy comparison. Also, the run game this season has shown the ability to hit the long explosive run. They have had one each game so far this season. The true problem is finding those 4-6 yard runs that keeps the offense ahead of the sticks putting them in manageable 2nd & 3rd down & distances to keep the chains moving.

The thing that gets me the most is the scripted starts. We are giving away possessions.
With the running clock rules, that is a no go.

It’s doesn’t really matter to me. Problems are still problems. And the fact that many of LSU’s problems are the same as last year, means that they haven’t figured out a way to correct the problems, for whatever reasons. It’s the coaches jobs to figure out how to fix the problems, and so far they haven’t done that.

Obviously because your analysis is lazy.

No they are not but keep beating that same drum over & over again.

It's 3 games into the season & the team is 3-0. People like yourself are impatient & irrational. Each season is different with different personnel. Sometimes it takes a few games on film for coaches to get a feel for their personnel's strengths & weaknesses. Some of you are utterly ridiculous.
