Yeah I agree with you on that. My guess is Florida is stuck with butter tooth for one more year. Tennessee and the Ags can go after him. Moving over to the East looks like the way to go IMO.

Love the way some LSU fans think that every Major head coach in American Football wants to coach @ LSU...at least not the GOOD ones... I didn't see ANY GOOD or GREAT coaches knocking the door down to coach here.....NEWS FLASH... this isn't fantasy football....

Awesome!

You summed up a lot of my thoughts better than I could. We would have probably butted heads about Miles, but we want the same thing, a program that utilizes and maximizes its talent.

This too shall pass (not literally, but figuratively), but (and this makes me unhappy to write this) this might be the first LSU coach that even I can't get behind.

We think similarly. Made my statement about O this past summer.

We have an SJW chancellor and a jellyfish for an AD. Until that or someone forces those changes it will remain the same. Hasn't anyone been paying attention at recruiting the last 2-3 yrs?
Someone on the SEC board last night said our program has returned from the start of a golden age when Saban was here in 2000 to where we now are. Although LSU has had several ages of great football, this truly was the longest and my my how far we have fallen.

I am saddened to say.....You are right. Bad times ahead. We are LSU and will rebound. It will be awhile though.

Tremendous post! Kidding aside, that was very well thought out, realistic, and reflective. I sincerely feel sorry for you. It would be nice if your commitment as a loyal fan were matched by the play on the field.

I truly value the people like you in our fan base.

You are correct.

That was the type of loss that sets programs back a decade. We were exposed and any remaining impression that we were "elite" or a "national brand" died Saturday night in Starkville.

It died for the media.

More important, it died for recruits. Hell, Orgeron is already raking in three-stars.

In only four quarters, the Orgeron experiment ran off the rails and was proven an utter, horrible failure.

He's in over his head and has no idea what to do other than utter inane phrases.

Make no mistake about it, that wasn't a "just one of those things" loss.

That was a program-defining loss--a program direction-setting loss.

Canada's office is smoke and mirrors. Will never win in the SEC. Time to move on.

Great post. Although I honor you as a true Tiger fan to make that drive and spend the money for games, it was just one game.

I didn't like it at all either, and it was the first time in years I turned the TV off because I couldn't watch it anymore, but I'm willing to give O some slack and some time before making a decision about his worth.

What I saw Saturday night were players forgetting or for whatever reason not playing fundamental football position responsibilities they were taught in high school or before. Two examples that stick in my mind is Arden Key "forgetting" he had containment responsibility on a MSU TD run, the other when our right O guard and tackle left D tackle unblocked. Fundamental football is the O tackle should have blocked down on the inside gap, or at least rubbed him so guard could gain position then tackle blocks LB. Whatever, the team didn't have their heads in the game at all.

I sat in the rain in Tiger Stadium when Miami whipped us 44-3 in 1988. Glad they allowed umbrellas back then.

I was also at this game and the Miami of Ohio-oh-oh-oh debacle (Saturday's game sort of reminded me of that game)..... neither game was fun to watch at all!

Saturday night felt like the end of an era. Maybe I'm over reacting, but we haven't looked that bad in nearly 20 years.

A perennial top-15 program should have at least landed a coach that was shown interest by other programs, or somebody who actually accomplished something of significance. The irony of the entire thing was that doofus was in such a rush to officially give the job to our interim head coach who desperately wanted it, while absolutely nobody wanted to hire him.

We had an enormous head start when we fired Les early. It didn't have to be only Jimbo and Herman. There are other good head coaches out there. Alleva had an inordinate amount of time, and all he had to do was ask representatives of various coaches, gage interest, and act based on that. And if any of them said "no," then that's fine. At least due diligence was done. But unfortunately that wasn't the case, so nobody, including Alleva, will ever know who wanted the job, and who didn't.

Do you know how Saban was hired? He was a person that absolutely nobody outside the athletic offices had on their radar, but representatives of a search firm representing LSU gaged interest, and asked his agent, "Would Nick be interested in becoming the head coach at Louisiana State University?"

With your mindset, that would have never happened. And unfortunately, Alleva apparently has the same mindset as well.

Another poster stated the best analogy regarding the coaching hire:

We needed a car, so we went to the Lamborghini dealership. When we got turned down there, we went to a used car lot and bought an old Saturn.

Yeah, those pedigree coaches were fighting each other to interview for the vacancy, weren't they?

I know I'm late to this party but damn, the entire time I was reading that I was asking myself, did I write this? These are exactly my sentiments and my situation, except my round trip is only about 150 miles.

Good job expressing my thoughts.

Alleva is clueless. He is not a football first AD. LSU is a football first school, alumni and fan base. Alleva is a mismatch of epic proportion. He counts beans. The place to apply pressure for change at LSU is and always has been the Board of Supervisors. But then it becomes a political process. Trouble is it always was.
