Yep, I was there. I was also very embarrassed after that game. Also, I sat in the rain in Tiger Stadium when Miami whipped us 44-3 in 1988. Glad they allowed umbrellas back then.

I was there. I think Ed Orgeron was Miami's D line coach that day. He has been around greatness and he's one of ours, a coonass. I haven't thrown in the towel on him yet.

Could not have been put any better than what you just did Waco. I admire you for driving from Waco to see this shitshow that's about to occur.

Miles post 2011 was crap....O is crap too.

LSU shouldn't settle for crap, but it appears that's Alleva's strategy when it comes to football.

Of course all of your driving is on the beautiful, scenic, Waco-BR route, just being as tad facetious. You sir, are correct. This is what happens when the AD hires a football coach without taking his feet off of his desk.

LINK

17 players in a game
Previous record was 15 in 2000.

In 2012 we played 12 and 11 in 2006 so Miles only had 2 games in which double digits of true frosh played.

Maybe you are thinking 20 over the course of the season. It never came close to happening in one game.

Amen brother. I could have written most of that post. Very similar thoughts.

There is aconsistent thread on the rant of blaming O for every thing in the game. What I have not heard anything aboutis the rash of suspensions and the long list of transfers out. What the hellis going on insde the camp?

The article I cited contradicts this. Again, you can count snaps, minutes or how many freshman actually letter. Under Miles, he averaged over 50% of the freshman class lettering (meaning they played significant snaps). Coach O only had 4 freshman starting (in the opening game), meaning they are counting freshman on kick-off teams, punt teams, etc. I am not going to dispute LSU's numbers, but they are counting differently than other programs and national media. Either way, I don't dispute that Coach O played at lot of freshman in the opening game, but my point was that it has been be going on for a long time. Also, remember, of the freshman starters, several were starting due to the record over 10 suspensions. To say this team is youthful compared to prior teams, and acting like it is a reason to give O a pass, is just not truthful.

1. I fully trust the LSU record books over an espn article that only talks about attaining a letter. Never mentions how many play in one game.

"Only had 4 frosh starting in the opening game".. Lmao really? Only 4

You obviously didn't read the article I gave you.

That 4 tied the most in one game than we had start in 13 fricking years!

quote:

Only four true freshmen started for LSU in a season opener from 2003 through 2016 — cornerback Kevin Toliver II in 2015, wide receiver Trey Quinn in 2014, cornerback Jalen Mills in 2012 and safety Jessie Daniels of Breaux Bridge at nickel back in 2003.

I've been supporting O all along (same with Etling), but it looks like you guys were right. I've been waiting on Canada to pull some magic out of his hat, and don't really know wtf happened to the D last night. I can't stand undisciplined play, and the blame goes to the top after three games of WAY too many stupid penalties.

Hopefully this will b a wake up call - if not we're just stuck with another mediocre year.

Looks like State is better than anyone thought, but we as fans have a right to be livid after last night"a shite show.

I don't like to linger on any loss - our fanbase does that far, far too much. However, this one is staying with me because it is probably the 2nd most significant loss in 30 years, probably only to the 58-3 (October 9th, 1993 - never forget).

Why? Because we just don't lose to MSU and when we do, it's by a single score. This was bad and the timing couldn't be worse.

Now - as I've been saying for almost 24 hours - we did lose a game by 4 TDs in 2001 and still won the conference - but I don't feel as confident about this team catching fire than I did about that team. Hope I'm just being pessimistic.

You forget that the article is talking about "season opener." What is so special about the season opener and 4 freshman starting due to a record 10+ suspensions? Even the article notes that 2 of the starters were for injured Arden Key and suspended Donnie Alexander. The article also states that only a total of 11 true freshman played for LSU over the last 2 seasons.
quote:

Over the previous two years, only 11 true freshmen played in all.

That simply is not a true statement. Regardless, I am not denying that 17 freshman played in the season opener, but I am just saying this is not new and was common (maybe not exactly 17) in the Miles' era. On the 2014 roster, 15 true freshman played at some point during the season. On the 2015 roster, 16 true freshman played at some point during the year. On the 2016 roster, 17 true freshman played at some point during the season. It is very easy to determine and verify this information by looking at the official stats on the LSU sports homepage.

Many fans were not happy about Les Miles hire. After the 2007 NC we struggled and didn't get back to SEC Championship game until 2011. For years many of us knew Miles was not what LSU needed but those in charge kept upping his salary.
Last night reminded me of the 2011 NC Game in New Orleans where we never even scored against Bama and Miles never changed a thing, he could have put Lee in the game, he played favorites and was stubborn. So for several years we speculated over who we could get that would be a great coach. It was the very man that beat us last night and two years ago, Dan Mullen. He can take a class ranked 33rd on average vs. Michigan at 9 and and he was ranked Alabama at 1 and LSU around 3-7 and he develops these players into the positions he feels they are best. I don't dislike Orgeron he is a breath of fresh air from Miles weird coacheak by . Thing is why is he repeatedly over looked by everyone, and the development of his QB's and players, not to mention the great human being he is. Now I read that Texas A&M will likely go after Mullen at end of this year if they don't turn the corner. I believe Mullen is the best coach in the SEC behind Nick Saban. McIlwain, Muschamp, Sumlin, Malzahn, Smart??? Jones and Freeze had to cheat and Mullen still beat him. So this is not to criticize Coach O, his heart is all LSU. LSU got beat becase their coach had a solid game plan and a wish from all his players to beat LSU, mission accomplished. Think about what this man will do at a school he goes to where he can actually recruit out of his state and get quality 4/5 star players. I just wonder why Mullen is so overlooked and he wasn't good enough to be in the conversation as a coach at LSU. I personally think Aranda is fantastic and from early on Canada surely had a impact. But LSU players, coaches and fans never thought MSU would upset them. I knew 2 weeks ago they were a big threat to us and was praying it wouldn't be a game overlooked. I think the bad call on 1st touchdown and the 2 targeting calls and all the other fouls we committed along with no one thinking MSU can ever beat LSU. Our tigers quit. That my fellow tiger fans has changed by a coach that averages a 33rd in talent class in Div. 1 in SEC. He has taken them to a bowl game 7 straight years. His career record at MSU 63-42 playing in the toughest conference in the country.
I would love to know what others think of Dan Mullen.

Franklin
Fisher
Gundy
Mullen

I wanted any one of these guys in no particular order, plus a few more I'd been happy with. I was laughed at and/or ridiculed for wanting three of them. Most of those people said "We'd be better off with O". Thanks a lot, assholes. I bought into O's crap for the last couple of months. A 30 point loss tends to kill that. I just converted back into a nega-Tiger.

Agree when Miles was fired I thought Mullen would be the worst we could do. We would go hard after fisher and other bigger names but we could fall back to Mullen if needed. No telling though he could still struggle at a bigger program with expectations to win every year.

Les Miles time in baton rouge he had NEVER played 17 true frosh in a single game. That is just a fact.

The record was set in game 1 this year. The article further highlighted that we had 4 true frosh starters in game 1 Which is very rare at LSU for just 1 frosh starter.

There is very much a big difference between having freshman letter which can be anything from 100 plays to getting in 6 games versus having record numbers playing at the same time. Not sure why that concept is hard for you to grasp.

True, but that's been asked of every coach at some point in their careers. I believe Mullen is more than ripe enough for a taste test at a bigger program. I could see him fit in nicely at Florida, if they decide to fire the shark molester.
