So yeah McMahon returned 3 players but I’ll die on the hill that his roster was trash. Yes, that’s on McMahon, but I think no one gives him the benefit of the doubt for last year. We’ll see how we do next year.
I’m quite clear on the fact I’m not a McMan. If he underperforms and we can find a better coach after next season or the end of year four I’d be beyond ready to move on and hire someone else. Im not a McMan. I’ve been clear. I have multiple posts shitting on him when it was necessary.
I just love lsu basketball and want us to win. I don’t think perpetually shitting on a coach and undermining every achievement and positive step forward we make is good. Just be appreciative of the good things we’ve accomplished this year. There’s far too much negativity on this board.
I bet the next time we make the NCAAT and lose in round one (whether with McMahon or anyone else) there’s gonna be so much negativity on this board. The goalposts are constantly moved to make negativity and I’m tired of it.
I’ve been negative too, and I’ve admitted that. But unlike a significant portion of tRant users I can also be happy and appreciative of when things are good. Just try to enjoy a win for once, please. You weren’t anywhere to be seen when we beat Kentucky, for example.

So the 3 guys who came back never left LSU and McMahon talked to them before he was officially hired. McMahon himself said this and said he could’ve brought more guys with him if needed. Those players began to officially return hours after McMahon was hired and he already had his 3 guys coming with him. He was hired on March 21st, the season didn’t end until May 4, between those dates he had signed multiple recruits and had the roster finalized by May 13th which was sooner than the previous season. This semantic talking point of “0 players” is completely irrelevant.

I know, my earlier posts I was quite rude and disrespectful to many. I’ve tried my best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and be respectful to everyone.
None of us are right, and I agree that this is destructive. I just wish we could get along and enjoy what we have, but it might be too much to ask for. Baseball and football threads shite on the basketball community on tRant

I hear you and I feel the same way but do yourself a favor, hit YouTube, there are some very good, short videos on defenses Houston, Virginia and Baylor run and offenses that UConn runs. Go watch what those teams do then watch a few minutes of us. Not the personnel comparisons philosophies and defensive positioning. Where players feet are, spacing on coverage, basically foundational aspects. It’s like watching different sports and those things are all taught, they’re not dependent on 4-5* players.

Sorry, memory failure. When McMahon was hired our 3 returnees were still here and hadn’t entered the portal yet. McMahon was hired March 21st, Williams entered the portal on March 30th, Miller entered the portal on April 7th, Wilk on April 11th.

I go to more than LSU games baw. I go to Tulane games and watch tons of CBB on TV. UAB vs Tulane game for example, I remarked how I loved their scheme and how well coached they are.. and I’ve seen Houston play IRL before as I watched Houston @ Tulane last year.
I think McMahon is a good coach. But there is a difference between GOOD and GREAT. I consume a lot of CBB. McMahon is alright. He’s nothing special. I think we can be successful with MM but I hat doesn’t mean that there aren’t better coaches out there.
