Not crazy. Maybe incredibly naive, or willfully ignorant would be a better way to put it.

Can you prove that we are cheating....I mean it must be an easy thing to do if you're calling someone naive about it.

C'mon man

I mean... outside of the fact that we self-reported violations for impermissible benefits at one point under Les, anyone with half of a brain knows that there are under-the-table transactions going on at every major program in basketball and football and presumably other sports. There's just so much out there that points to it, I'm not sure where to begin.

The rules are asinine and are the cause of all of this "cheating" being considered "cheating" to begin with. I'm not trying to disparage anyone here. We do what we have to in order to compete. And of course LSU offers many benefits to a potential student athlete beyond these impermissible benefits, concrete evidence of which I'm not going to dig around for because why would I try and dig up dirt on my favorite program and alma mater?

everyone does it.

When I was at LSU in the mid-80s I personally witnessed:

- John Williams, from south-central Los Angeles, was driving a red 5-series BMW.
- Steffond Johnson, basketball player, was driving a brand new 280ZX. He got kicked off the team, and the next week another basketball player was driving the same car.
- I got a copy of a test, the night before, via a friend, from Jeff Wickersham, starting QB
- My close friend worked at a nice men's clothing store and Don Redden charged $800 (a big chuck in the mid-80s) on a credit card that wasn't his.

This stuff goes on everywhere, and you're terribly naive if you think it doesn't happen at LSU.

True. Whatever they are doing. And however they do it, find out and duplicate.

Ask Ole Miss how that worked for them? The hammer came down on Ole Miss as soon as they both played Bama's recruiting game and then beat Bama on the field. That is NOT allowed.

If LSU starts to use Bama recruiting tactics, the SEC and NCAA would fall on Baton Rouge like a biblical plague.

Yes...he knows about the fat barber in Amite.

It also shows the true weakness or unwillingness of Louisiana to protect and prop up LSU. The sitting Louisiana Governor is from Amite. The Governors brother is the Sheriff of Tangipahoa Parish and their kin is the Mayor of Amite. Reverse the situation and lets say a top notch player in a Alabama town is being recruited by LSU. With them dynamics do you think said player is allowed to not sign with Alabama and leave for their biggest recruiting rival?

Recruiting is a dirty business. Everybody participates to varying degrees. If you think that your favorite school is immune to it you're fooling yourself.

It's much more sophisticated than just "having a payroll to meet". After the 1980's & 90's nobody is going to trust an 18 yr old kid with direct payments from a coaching staff or booster. It' leveraged pressure with laundered "benefits" filtered through a "community" to a point where its difficult to pinpoint who did what.

Why hint?

If he knows a competitor is cheating and can prove it and it directly effects both his program AND his job...why simply hint at it?

Speak up and say what you know, or shut the frick up...because "hinting at it" makes someone look like a whiny bitch who is interested in excuses for why others are beating him.

You are correct. LSU is not paying players. But, that isn't how this works.

ETA: University of Alabama doesn't pay players either. Their network of alums pays them. So LSU alums step up. Those bags are not going to fill themselves with cash. Their parents need jobs. The pastors need payment. Brothers/Sisters need taken care of....easy to give them jobs or pay them.

Plenty of ways it all goes down and Alabama has it figured out.
