"An" is the correct indefinite article to use in front of an initialism starting with the vowel sound "ell", such as "LSU".

Correct. They had Dwayne Thomas. He played the role that Thompson will play this year and he was the most disruptive player in that game.

He sure was, but he was NOT spying and neither will Corey Thompson.

You read into what I said wrong, but no big deal as a lot of people do that on here. I didn't say or mean that D is back mainly because of Aranda, I said dominant defense is back, suffocating, aggressive style of defense that I like to look at. Not the stuff Chavis employed, that's not my style of defense. Also, I said LSU's great athletes make coaches look much better than they really are and was the case with Chavis and Pelini, but you're right Aranda and Saban can be included. But their styles of defense (Saban and Aranda) are much more effective because they really get after it with LSU's talented studs and completely shut down offenses in most cases.

Your correction is wrong. Good try though.
The L sounds like a vowel sound (el), so the an is appropriate.

Auburn's ability to move the ball on an SEC defense is also unproven at this point.

This morning on Mike and Mike, Herbie was on and they asked him what was wrong with the Gump offense and he said, "Florida State's defense is very good! They have a LSU defense!"

Herbie hadn't seen the LSU D play, he was calling the Bama/FSU game. His statement is his way of back pedaling from that position.

I get what you're saying but bama has lost to ole miss, aTm, and auburn since lsu last beat them

True.... but

aTm -- Johnny Football "signature" game --- another 5 minutes of clock and it's a Bama win. aTm has not sniffed a remote shot at beating them since. Big "Mo" just got on Johnny's side for the first 3 drives and then they held on to the end.

Ole Miss - twice, granted -- but in both games Bama had more than one turnover deep in their own territory... fumbled kickoff and punts -- field flipping "game changers" --- still granted, 2 Ole Miss wins versus none for us/LSU -- I get it.

Auburn -- "kick 6" - need I say more --- that AU team was very, very lucky down the stretch that season... the kick 6 was a miracle ending.

On the contrary --- LSU has lead Al on at least 3 occasions in the 4th quarter only to lose in the end... my point ---- LSU had squared up with Bama --- just has not come away with victories... maybe Bama got a little "kick 6ish" lucky with the 90 second drive by McCarron, the fumble by LSU going in on the opening drive by our Fullback, and the recovered on-side kick only going 9.75 yards before the kicker fell on it.... each a potentially game changer

Not arguing with you... just saying had the "ball bounced" LSU's way a couple times Les Miles may have beaten Nick Saban an additional 4 times... it just didn't happen

Our offense has finally emerged from the Stone Age.

Bama should be afraid, very afraid.

They gave up 24 to Alabama. Not sure that is a compliment.

OJ Howard Compares NFL to Playing an Alabama vs LSU Matchup Everyday

There is nothing more to say. Saban most certainly emphasizes the times Bama plays LSU. And the players clearly focus on it, which makes sense since so many are recruited from Louisiana to Bama and from Alabama to LSU. There is an intense rivalry. Bama and LSU deliver each other the best each one has to offer and it has been that way since before 2011.

Saban emphasizes LSU because it's his former program and he knows what he started there and what they're capable of. He knows LSU can beat him any time they line up, contrary to what people say on here LSU does have the horses to beat them every time, but it has been coaching and dumb mistakes (penalties) that has cost them the games in Tiger stadium. They should be unbeaten at home against them, but the play calling as usual wasn't up to par. Now with Canada there, hopefully things will change in that dept.

but I don't think LSU gets a lot of Bama athletes from Alabama like they do from Louisiana.

But it disappeared when Chavis was in control, dude was a horrible DC and people couldn't see it at first, but I did. LSU's great athletes made him look good like they make every coach look good,

Chavis appears washed up now, but he wasn't horrible. The 3rd and Chavis bit us in the arse a number of times, but we also shut down a lot of tough teams. Bama had elite athletes and an elite coach against guys like Johnny Football, but only LSU shut him down (twice). Chavis had some good game plans.

Unfortunately they have LSU's special teams too.

yeah, I get that from a previous poster's comment, I may have over stepped some on the horrible comment on Chavis, but his style of defense I definitely don't like. I just don't think it is effective and gives up a lot of yardage to opposing teams as you are seeing now at A&M. He got away with it at LSU because of the type of athletes that LSU has, but A&M is not LSU.

It could have been much worse, thelr defense held Alabama to 24. But Alabama had the ball a lot on their side of the field.

They didn't exactly put up 50 the last 2 years they played Alabama.

I think we will too, but they have a track record. Under Canada, we don't yet.

Auburn has a first-year starting QB (who looked pretty pedestrian vs an objectively bad defense last week) and a first year OC (who not that long ago was a high school HC).

Let's not start talking about their offensive prowess just yet.

This.

Beat me to both points. Like the post earlier, look where Saban schedules his bye week. All you need to know. Listen to former Alabama players when they're candid. They clearly say that LSU is the game on the schedule they circle every year.

You know that's the reality inside their locker room. Outside, Saban will never acknowledge it because they don't want to give LSU any more of a recruiting edge than they already have, and they've been thanking their stars every night that LSU has not been able to put together a season where they had a functional offense and a functional defense at the same time.

I would in know way imply that they're scared, but I'm sure our performance last weekend has them more on edge than any of their remaining schedule.

Jalen Hurts is not a good QB

quote:

I beg to differ. That boy is stout, can run as he does on us on occassion, and can make the throws.

See, I think this is just a common misconception of QBs in general. For example, put Tom Brady behind Cincinnati's offensive line - he wouldn't be playing football anymore.

For the past 10 years, Bama's strength has been, and continues to be, in the "trenches". How many starting QBs does Bama have in the NFL today? How many QBs from Bama has started in the NFL in the past 10 years!?

Bama QBs are, at best, mediocre game managers. McCarron was their best game manager in the past 10 years, that's why he had success - still doesn't start in the NFL.

More to my point - Alabama QBs have not won a game in the NFL since 1988

That link deserves a thread in SEC Rant
