I said before.
The biggest spoiled brat in baton Rouge is Brian kelly. People been kissing his arse far too long for no big victories.

It was one of the most tone deaf statements an LSU HC in any sport has ever made. Yes we are spoiled and our expectations are very high and your contract reflects those expectations. If he were making a salary towards the bottom of the SEC and our media and fans were making these comments after a win against Florida, then yeah I could see his point. But when you are one of the highest earners in the sport, a lot will be demanded of you

Were "spoiled: because the past 3 coaches won a NC. That includes Led Miles and Ed Orgeron. Let that sink in, and we all at first thought BK was a better coach than the last 2 and he cant get it done.

Are we sure he's not sipping that wine before games?

The spoiled comment rubbed everyone in the media and the fan base the wrong way because BK can't control his temper and has to spout off thinking it makes him tough. What he doesn't realize, the people that make up this fan base throughout the state of Louisiana are anything but spoiled. Lots of hardworking people trying to make ends meet and sacrifice their time and money to pull for and support LSU. I know he thinks he's somehow "above" everyone here because he's from Boston and so smart, but he's going to have a mutiny on his hands if he keeps biting the hand that feeds him.

It's a microcosm of why Kelly doesn't succeed. Frankly, it's related to intelligence.
He said it because he was defensive. He knew the team was in big trouble.
But, any logical person would have answered that question in a way that was best for himself and the team. At that moment, he should have said:
"We are still trying to develop that cohesion on the offensive side. Everyone is making us out to be a playoff team and I have to tell you that if we can't figure out how to solve some of these issues, we are going to run into a lot of problems in our conference. The conference is just too good. Everyone in this program needs to be focused on improvement because we either improve significantlly or fail."
This would have set expectations appropriately. It would have made him look like a great coach if the staff was in fact able to keep this team winning. And, it would have sent a message to everyone to stop patting themselves on the back.
Instead, he said what he said. He told everyone asking questions...they were wrong. He literally said the running game was good enough. He put all of the pressure on he and his staff to deliver. Now, he's paying the price.
Smart people don't back themselves in the corner like that. Underpromise. Overdeliver. Saban at his best was still talking about rat poison and telling reporters that the team wasn't as good as they think they are.

I defended BK at the time he made the comments primarily because we were undefeated then and still developing/improving but now, with 2 losses and our CFP chances on life support, that blowup has not remotely aged well. When you invest that much into this present roster and you're in Year 4 and you've already lost 2 games before Halloween, damn right we're spoiled and we should be, our last 3 HCs won natties, we have a standard of excellence here because our state produces NFL talent on basically every street and we have no competing in-state rival. If you don't want to live up to that standard, then get the hell out of LSU football ops.

When coaches are speaking at press conferences, they aren’t just speaking to the reporters. They are speaking to everyone listening. So when little Brian said you’re spoiled, he was talking to me. It pissed me off. He might as well have just spit in my face. At that moment I lost all respect for little Brian. He has underachieved immensely with respect to his compensation.

This was Kelly’s Baghdad Bob moment. Despite being undefeated, there were obvious signs that the offense had significant deficiencies that could be problematic moving forward. He could’ve acknowledged the concerns and spun it in a hopeful way - I think most coaches would have taken that approach.
Instead, the response was out of proportion with the question, and now he looks like a fool. And obviously the “true” Brian Kelly is the guy browbeating a reporter in the post-game, not the conciliatory guy issuing a public apology in the next press conference.

The funniest part of that statement is that it was made by a man with a 100 million dollar contract that doesn't require him to produce anything in order to continue to collect it.

You know you have a loser of a coach when our last title was 5-6 seasons ago and you can us unrealistic
Any top tier program would expect to be at least in contention every year.
Is it any surprise Bama and UGA are always in the playoffs or win the title? No, it's because they have stable programs with good management.
I hope Kelly gets utterly humiliated and soon. He's a bad look for our school and can't even make the GD playoff a single time.

He himself built this team up to the media and fans by saying LSU has a championship roster. He also said he knows good OLs and he’s got one.BK did this to himself by his own words.

Yes!!! We are spoiled, we are spoiled because of all the previous tiger players and coaches that have come before Brian Kelly to pave the way for success and championships to be expected at LSU!! I for one am not willing to give up that expectation for this university, if that’s what you feel than you were definitely not the guy for this program and it’s time for you to move on!!!

I mean, if he were getting paid like 300-400K a year I could possibly let that comment slide, but for 10 million a year you bet your arse we want to be spoiled.

That’s Kelly’s rhetoric. He has never won anything at a D1 level, and apparently never will so I guess, we will have to put up with this until changes are made. The reporter had every right to ask, and it was a reasonable question. That’s why Kelly offered an apology.

that was an incredibly childish response, almost as if he was saying "how dare you try and make me accountable for not being able to do my job?"

Might be one of the most tone deaf comments I’ve ever heard any head coach say at any level.
A fanbase is spoiled because it wants to understand why the team is lacking in a major aspect of the game? Particularly coming off an ugly win against an inferior opponent, knowing that that lack of whatever it is (in LSU’s case, there were many things - inability to throw downfield, inability to block, inability to run- at the time we had not been informed of Nuss’s injury, though it was obvious) will come back to bite us in the arse against better competition (and that worry was borne out)?
That question has to be anticipated by every head coach at a major program. And the coach speak answer is SO easy there:
“Well, we just won the game so we’re certainly glad of that and we’re going to enjoy that, but on Sunday we will go back and look at tape and see where we need to improve there so we can shore that up.”
But instead, BK pops off out of frustration and calls the media (and by extension, the fans) spoiled.
It seems like he’s running on fumes, tired of trying to figure this shite out with a fanbase that is even more rabid than Notre Dame’s, a fanbase that is 100% spoiled having only recently seen the best college football team in history leave to go on and dominate in the NFL.
Is that fair? Maybe it isn’t. But Penn State just shitcanned a guy who was good for 9-10 wins a year and consistently being ranked in the top 20 because it wasn’t good enough there. Are they spoiled? Ryan Day was on the hot seat last year and OSU has been perennially dominant in the BIG10 under him. Are they spoiled? Dabo lost his shite on the media because Clemson isn’t very good this year. Are they spoiled?
fricking. Yes. That’s the state of the market in major college football, BK.
Win or get out. Don’t whine about it. That’s what the money is for.

The issue I take with it is this. We have a standard at LSU and that standard is not being met. We as fans know what it takes to win at a high level. We’ve done it before. A lot actually. And on the grandest stage. The excuses and continued gaslighting to us is pathetic. All we want is good effort and good coaching. Right now we are not getting the coaching part at all. We know that we will lose some games, can’t win ‘em all. But by God there better be effort and coaching. Getting pushed around by Vandy and an inept offense ain’t it.
