I was neutral.

I had my suspicions that he'd maintain a mediocre program, but I was going to give him a fair shot.

I was always pulling for him though, the idea of a Louisiana guy coaching LSU appealed to me. Plus Coach O seems like a cool cat.

I was wrong. Completely wrong. I did not think he had the self deprecating ability that he does.

More than Happy to be wrong!

The Truth About Ed Orgeron’s Hire

The truth about the hire is that Joe Alleva’s Utter incompetence might result in a championship.

Really unbelievable when you think about it.

And to be fair, I was one of the biggest critics of Wd initially. He had a terrible history as a head coach.

His 2 interim jobs were good on the surface, but he lost to most of the good teams played during that time (though I think he did have a big win against ND maybe when at USC).

Then he lost to Troy.

But to his credit, he saw the deficiencies on the team and had a vision on how to fix them. And he did.

Like most that were justifiably skeptical initially, he’s proven that he is more than up for the job and I’ve been converted to a huge fan of him.

Why does it matter now?

He's winning. We could have hired back Curley Hallman and as long as he won SEC titles, he would be the talk of the world and Golden Flake potato chips would be at every tailgate.

Of course most people hated the hire. Did YOU watch Ole Miss play in 2005? Of course that was O suffering with Cutcliffe's 2 star recruits, and yes...Nutt owes all of his good seasons to O. But at the end of the day, in 2016-2017, why would anyone be excited for that hire?

Yes. It was the right hire. I have seen the light.

I will acknowledge I was disappointed, but did not post or melt. I didn't think he was a bad choice, just not "THE" choice that this program deserved. I likened it to choosing Archer. I am very excited about what CEO has done and looking forward to the future!

I was in the "just give the man a chance" camp. Coach O is doing a great job, and I hope he continues to do so.

My only issue is with the Never-O's who look for any reason to to dog the man just because they never wanted him in the first place.

There's more energy and enthusiasm around the program than I have ever seen. Let's just enjoy it.

Let’s not start this revisionist history thing where most people act like they thought LSU had the hire right the whole time and want credit for supporting him since day one. Because there are very, very few of those people.

I was ridiculed at work after he was hired and the only thing I said was “he’s a great recruiter and we need to give him a chance”

So I guess I’m “one of the few”

Coaching Changes Board Thread from 10/2016

I posted this in another thread... some real gems in here. But there was also a lot of support for O.

Was a horrific decision in my opinion but I didn't think Breg's was MLB material

Maybe he and O have read my views and vowed to prove me wrong
