Also, coaches could leave one program for another at whim.

I see this argument all the time, but in most cases, coaches’ contracts still have to be bought out if they leave or get fired. That’s not the case for players at the moment.

So complete u restricted free agency is a good thing? Why doesn't the NFL do it then?

With the Transfer Portal the way it is this year, JB & JD would have held LSU hostage after either demanding more NIL money after their 1st seasons or left for another program. There have always been transfers. These kids have no loyalty now and only care about the money. Many teams will get burned by players who have all the talent, but only care about the money and don't focus themselves in becoming good players. Saban knew it was bad for College Football. Just look what it did to Marshall. There needs to be some rules. It is just craziness.

It is pure trash to allow unlimited transfers without sitting. It is also pure shite to allow in conference transfers.

Exactly. What a pleasure it has been to watch TJ Finley develop at five different schools.
How would Finley languishing on one bench somewhere be more optimal?

Nobody said the portal itself is bad numbnuts. It’s the ability to transfer as many times as you want with no penalty.
What's the penalty for coaches doing the same?

It’s even more bizarre that people pay these players that could be gone shortly after they arrive on campus and have provided zero product
It's just a year at a time. What's the big deal?

Rules need to be established so that you don’t have student athletes transferring 4-5 times.
To what end? Again, how is it somehow better if TJ Finley is FORCED to be at one specific place? How is Finley transferring making anyone's life worse (other than the new team that is stuck with him )?

While true, coaching buyouts are pretty one-sided nowadays. For example:
- If LSU fired Brian Kelly after the 2024 season, they would owe him $62 million.
- If Brian Kelly left to take another job after the 2024 season, he would owe LSU $2 million.

I’m just using Kelly’s contract as an example; it’s not particularly unique in that aspect.

I disagree. It’s no longer a team. It’s just a group.

I don’t know how you tricked yourself into thinking this is a positive thing for College Football, stemming from the transport portal

Fine but :
1. Sit out a year
2. Lose a year of eligibility

Or perhaps he would’ve watched some superior quarterbacks play and learned from them. developed some character like a lot of players have in the past decades and developed into a very good quarterback.

How can jumping to a different school every season be good for anyone?
Collegiate football is supposed to develop character not a drifter’s lifestyle.

The transfer portal is good for players that don't want to compete and wait their turn to play,,,,,....

Too easy and allows the easy way out....
