I actually like Miles and think he is a quality man, but I did work-out with a player last year (starter) smart guy, was asking a few questions he said Miles was a dufus?? FWIW...

MightyYat is calling you out on your "first hand knowledge". He thinks you must be giving "second hand knowledge". In my opinion, it doesn't really matter. You seem to know something, or think you do.

I'm not a player. When a player is in my house and he tells me something straight, I consider that to be a 1st hand account since it is coming from his mouth. From what I've heard, some respect the guy, but most do not. One of the things he did to a friend of mine is, IMO, not morally right. Others just don't think he is that good of a football coach, despite what playing time they receive.

This is going to be my last post in this thread.

Sorry for hijacking your thread MightyYat, I didn't man for it to get this out of hand

I'm guessing one of these players os not PP7 since his brother is committing.

But, could you send me an email with the real scoop? coachmileslsu@gmail.com

Seriously, this is not CLM's email -- I just got it because I was going to send a joke email to Saban from that address asking if he'd want to trade OCs mid-season. And then I was going to send him some funny dog videos from that address.

now why would I do that? Do you remember what the Rant caused Barksdale last year for simply saying he wishes he could go home more than a few weeks a year?

I'd rather not and know the truth, rather than going off MightyYat's interaction with the players for a few hours

Shut up Michael Ford.

No one ever doubted that. I bet they would all love Jessica Alba also.

This...

I've worked with the team in the past and know people who work with them everyday. This is the best description of the sentiment towards Les.

Of course you'll have several guys that may actually hate him for various reasons, but that will be the case with every coach.

I hung out with more than twenty of the players for about three hours at their hotel in Orlando after the Capital One Bowl, and none of them had anything good to say about the coaches. Maybe it was the loss talking, but I know at least some of them didn't care for Miles much.

I don't think anyone argues that your feel good story is great. I just disagree with your blanket sentiment that the players love Miles when that isn't true. It is a totally false statement.

So I should just take your word for it because you heard it from some scorned players also? No thanks.

I'm not friends with any of the players but because of what I do, I talk to them and they talk to me. There is no love for Miles. I wouldn't say they hate him either though. He isn't the one recruiting these kids to come here either. His involvement isn't nearly as hands on as you'd think. He plays favorites though and out of that group of guys, there are some who really like him. Others may go weeks without talking to him.

Never mind, these comments tell me everything I need to know. Next time just get to that shite before insulting me.

I think the people who are posting with legitimate information (if any really are) are doing an important thing.

Information about this team is tightly controlled and I think most of us have an image that Miles is a players coach and most of the players like him.

If the players are indifferent or don't like him is this any different than any other coach?

The seniors were being more vocal about it, because "they don't play for that MFer no more". The under classmen were more tight-lipped.

Actually I hope the players love and respect our coach. Obviously it's better for all involved. But after reading through this thread and the opposing views it ocurred to me that only one thing really matters are the WINS. If we win everyone is happy (or should be) regardless of personality traits or flaws. As a fan honestly to me WINNING is much more important than who likes who.

Do you guys think all the players "liked" Nick Saban when he had his foot in their backsides? I couldn't care less if the players like or love Les Miles. In football, the respect of the team is all that matters. If you lose respect and the team stops listening, that's when bad things start to happen.

The only senior on the team last year that had real beef with playing time was Keiland. The rest either played or weren't good enough to get on the field.

Whether players love/like/respect Coach Miles they will not just say they do not to random individuals. Truth is LSU has some high character guys who even if they did not agree with things would not hinder the team by vocalizing it.

Personally though I could care less if players like/love/hate Miles as long as they keep it to themselves and perform on the field.

I respect Miles because he does seem a high character guy who treats individuals fairly. It does not matter if I agree/disagree with coaching decisions because I am only a fan and have no input on coaching decisions/play calls/etc.

That's what you might normally think.

But I completely disagree.

It didn't matter if the players liked Saban because they at least respected him for Xs and Os and at the end of the day, probably thought he was helping him get into the League.

I doubt the players respect Miles for Xs and Os as much, so it's more necessary that they like Miles.

You're making it seems like every player on the team is out recruiting for les and LSU

A few players have done that and a few players probably adore him, a few players probably hate his guts, and the majority are somewhere in the middle
