That was friggin Awesome!!! I love guys with passion for the purple and gold and for winning. You can't take it for granted. This message was for the entire team, players, coaches and staff. Looks like a bit more fire in our team going into SuperRegional. I know it's not a life or death situation, but young men can learn a lot from this about life (even us old guys). Man, I'm pumped and ready to go kick some a^% at whatever in life is challenging!! Thanks, Ryan T.

agreed.
for all of the people that think that rant was not sent to every player over and over again is crazy. Meaning, whether the players loved it or hated it, it motivated them.
Love the line about remembering the, "...absolute badasses that preceded them in this program."
I have no clue if paul uses explayers to come and talk to the team or not. i do know he has quite the long list of people that have done it...and won it.

If you don't think the players watched this episode of Mosconas show then you are stupid. Social media makes it too easy not to go to the website and look up what Theriot said. What Theriot said might/might not have had anything to do with the turnaround, but it DAMN SURE was a spot on, check your ballsack at the dugout and get focused speech.

No idea. I don't know how closely the players pay attention to local sports talk radio. Hopefully not much.
It went viral. They heard it. CPM heard it as well.

Whether it was a factor or not who knows. I hope someone in our dugout was listening. Ryan is about as pedigree'd as you can get.
That said, he was team captain in '01. With a national seed not out of the picture we finished our last two series by getting swept at Arky and losing 2/3 to Auburn at home.

Without someone with the team outright stating they heard Theriot and took it to heart, I'm not gonna give him credit for the turnaround. Some of it is injured players (Henry amd Marceaux) coming back.
One thing I liked about his rant was his feelings on midweek games. There will always be the "do they matter?" debate, but I think most people misinterpret what "matter" means in this context. Does it matter if you win midweek games? Not really.
But I think it says a lot about your team in how you play midweek games. You're not using your top pitching options so you should expect to give up runs. But if you're playing your regular lineup, getting shut down on offense is a red flag. And we saw it fairly often throughout the season where the offense was nonexistent vs. the better starters and relied on bashing bullpens to pull a lot of games out.
And our regular lineup's struggles meant more midweek playing time couldn't be devoted to the backups and providing them opportunities to carve out a role. All of this resulted in 2 regulars hitting under .200 and having no alternatives for them or for when we faced LHPs.

The Ryan Theriot’s Rant
I laughed when he had to pause his “rant” so he could scroll through his phone to the end of it.

I'd talk shite about theriot but I'm afraid he will blast me on the radio on Fridays. I know he reads these threads
The riot radio hour is pretty enjoyable

Didn’t we lose two out of the three games directly following this?
I've mentioned this at least twice. We also gave up double-digit runs in the first two games after his rant. But people refuse to let facts get in the way of their narrative.

Heard from two different sources that mainieri wasnt too happy about it, and took theriots picture off the wall in the locker room

This team has played with an entirely different attitude since his rant. Yes, they lost the first game after, but they actually showed up to that game, then won the next.
Chalk it up to coincidence if you need to, but the team has played much better since that Friday afternoon.

Woodward had a shite or get off the pot meeting with CPM, and the rest is history.

Don't you think this at least had a small roll in getting those players to buckle down. I would sure as hell want to change the way I do things after being blasted like that.
Absolutely. The players know Theriot and have huge respect for him. Dude knows his baseball and he’s champ.
Ryan wasn’t nearly as good as most of the guys he played with in College but he made up for what he lacked by hustling 100% and being a smart ball player.
I think he’d be an outstanding coach but he’s making so much $ right now that there’s no way he’d walk away from Traction. As most of you know he’s an owner and is able to basically just chill when he’s there.
Bregman gives Theriot a lot of credit for giving advice when in the minors.
Theriot does come off silly and over the top on Matt’s show but he’s excellent dude.

He’s a partner along with quite a few others. He can’t say shite about losing midweek games because the teams he was on lost quite a few of them.

They never got the doors blown off of them by Southern and while they did in fact loose mid-week games, they didnt lose as much as this team has.
Also, in the 90s, the other in state teams were better than ones that are there today. Ship would pull atleast half of his position players out early in the games so backups could get reps and keep his the guys in the Bull pin who saw very little mound even if it meant they they would Only be in there for a couple outs to 2 innings

I think you meant to say This team has played with an entirely different attitude since Duplantis hit that 3 run bomb and Mareceux came into his own.

Lot of Theriot hate in here. Dude won the CWS on the Cresse walk off. So what If he talked shite. The team needed a mental wake-up call.
