Exactly. Just like the game of the century in Tuscaloosa, without that win Alabama would be on the outside looking in....wait....oh shite.

It's disrespectful of LSU's accomplishment of a road win in the "Game of the Century". What was the point of that game? It rewards a loss. No one will remember the first game, they will remember the rematch.

Also, the fact that by losing to LSU, losing its division and conference, Bama gets to sit at home, resting and preparing, while LSU faces yet another tough opponent with all the accompanying risks of injury.

It didn't in 07 when we lost to Kentucky, our body of work and quality wins carried us past our loss to an inferior opponent.
Arky was actually a worse loss in 2007. Kentucky cam into the game ranked in the top 15, and came out of it ranked #8

#3). We want new meat. Bammy ? Been there, won that. Conferences need to play each other for bragging rights. AND, I dont want to hear the rest of the country saying: "Congrats LSU, you won 2 SEC championship games"

Michigan...one of the best programs all time wasn't even given the chance to replay. However, the love over Alabama and Nick Saban is the ONLY thing making this possible. Any other Team+Coach would have NO chance at a rematch. I have never supported a playoff system in college, but if they allow Bama in then why the hell not? I'd rather go in knowing other teams have a chance then just have a media bias putting a team in.

For me, the biggest reason to not want a rematch with Alabama is that they had their shot and lost. For years, everyone has been complaining that the BCS is flawed and college football should go to some sort of playoff. If there were a playoff, and LSU beat Alabama early on in the playoff scenario, would anyone say that Alabama deserved another shot becuase the loss was a close loss? No. Everyone would say the the Tide had their chance. This is the same thing, except instead of a playoff game, it happened in the regular season. To me, there is no argument that the game happened early in the season before the teams knew the implications, neither team was missing key players (IIRC)and they both realized the importance of the game.

That being said, if OSU loses to Oklahoma, then things change.

So you feel losing a game at home to the #1 team without even crossing the 17 yard line carries more weight than...........

Losing on the road in OT to a bowl eligible team on a Friday night the day after 2 people in the athletic program were tragically killed?

It should be noted that both Kickers botched FG's in each games

Not real sure what you're trying to say here, but do you actually think the tragedy involving the women's basketball coaches had anything at all to do with their losing to Iowa State???

3. SEC teams beat up on each other all season long. Bowl games are for SEC teams to beat up on other conferences to prove our dominance!

Of course you don't...........because when you think about it that way it kinda changes the perspective a little.

If you don't think the tragic death of someone important to the athletic program didn't at all change the amount of distractions for a team on the road then you are just a bumbling moron.

It was a DISTRACTION, it was what the media was talking about, it was what the players were getting asked about, and ultimately, it makes ANYONE with a heart think about their life and how precious it is.

Did it affect OSU's gameplan? not at all; but I do feel it affected their preparation for a Friday night game.

I personally don't want another lead up to the game like the last one with ignorant gumps on u-tube talking non-stop about "beating that corndog arse", whatever that means.
They didn't, now we want to see a fanbase with a little more class and one that we haven't already beaten.

No it isn't. What would you call an SEC West championship? An SEC championship? All were probably after the game on nov. 5th. People need to stop looking at the NC as the only prize, it's one of three. The NC isn't even NCAA recognized.

They don't deserve to play for a NC!!!! That is all. No hatred or fear.

Do you think if LSU had defeated only 2 teams in the top 25 BCS teams and lost to Bama at home we would be in the NCG? Hell NO!

Not fear, but respect. We knew going into the Bama game that they are a great team that could beat us on any night, but they didn't beat us on that night. We went to their vaunted stadium and beat them fair and square. A loss now in the championship game wouldn't be surprising, b/c Bama is so damn good, but it would be unfair. I suspect most Bama fans know that in the back of their minds.

Maybe OSU and Bama should have a kicking contest ala penalty kicks in soccer to determine the number 2 team.

RTS, you must be a closet bama fan, or outright one. You have been on LSU's rant steady for the last 48 hrs arguing why they should get a do-over, when the rest of the nation just gets to sit on the sideline.

There is the assumption that a rematch would not be granted the other way around.

yes, people picked bama and "they mad" bama lost and searching for a way to make their preseason picks look better

This rematch talk stands conventional thinking on its head. College football operates under the assumption of lose and you're out.

Also this

Esp when the teams were in the same conference. A rematch can happen like 1996 for all the marbles but it took another team losing as well as FSU losing the rematch for Florida to win a NC

And my biggest frustration? 2006 was only five years ago and all the prognosticators have completely forgotten whatever lessons they should have learned that year. A season long set of assumptions was only upset because some voters didn't get their way and tOSU/Michigan had to play quality teams out of their conference

Yes, I think LSU and Alabama are dominant but both should be tested by quality teams out of conference after the conference has been settled. This isn't a 4 or 8 team playoff
