The power 4 should move to a standard schedule

If we are going to have this huge playoff, there should be a standard schedule.
Game 1 - lower level / directional school
Game 2 - power 4 team from another conference
Games 3-11 - conference games
Game 12 - rivalry week. If your rival is in same conference, then game 3 is against another power 4 team.
9 conference games, 2 other power 4 games, 1 rent a win.

I agree. I don't know if this exact formula is the answer, but schedule disparity is a massive problem.

I agree. It would be similar to the NFL model.
Fundamentally, we need to reduce the number of schools. Schools like Vandy, Rutgers, Stanford, etc., need to drop out of this new "power" league.
64 seems like the right number to me. You could have 8 groups of 8 by geography, and then match them up on a rotating basis, like how the NFC East will play the AFC East on a given year.

It’s a P2 now and they are trying. That’s what BK alluded to with playing 9 SEC games and 1 Big10 game annually.

need to get rid of conference championship games...play 11 game conference schedule and crown the champion based on best conference record in regular season.
Use the conference championship weekend for playoff play-in games to determine 3rd and 4th teams from the conference (3 vs 6, 4 vs 5)...

makes way too much sense. then what will have the committee have to disect and argue over?
all kidding aside, i like your idea, and they should implement some sort of bcs formula to it as well.

64 is way too many teams. If there were that many power teams, the PAC-12 wouldn’t have folded, Texas and OU wouldn’t have bailed on the Big 12, and the ACC wouldn’t be under threat of collapse. Also, it’s very odd you would call out Vandy, Rutgers, and Stanford if you’re planning on 64 teams. If it goes down to a P2 with 32 teams or less, then, yes, those teams should not make the cut.

I agree too. But the major problem is all directional schools are not created equal. Also all Conference members are created equal.
For example in years past, Vandy would be the popular choice to say someone scheduled an SEC team.
I think to somewhat level the playing field, in the above scenario, a team must schedule Game 1 vs an in-state FBS opponent, like LSU did with LA Tech.
Edited to add - I agree all power 4 conferences need to play the same number of conference games.

No thanks. Eliminate these games entirely. I agree with everything else

The Big 12 and ACC are going to get left behind. There’s a reason Texas and Oklahoma left one of those conferences and Clemson and FSU want out of the other.

This is going to happen sooner than later, I think that’s why we keep seeing the message about SEC vs BIG.
It’s going to kill smaller programs, which will kind of suck. But, the games will be a lot better from our standpoint.
