Special teams is a cluster F. Polian can recruit, but we let a damn good special teams coach go to bring him in IMO. So far that decision has not worked out. (I am a Brian Kelly fan, just pointing out what I feel was a mistake here).

What other coach do you fire to accommodate that?
Maybe start with Sloan, Cooks, or Steeples.

Why would you fire steeples?
The corners have played really well this yr.

Primarily because someone would have to go, but also because you've already got a DL coach, safeties coach, and a DC to absorb the position. Similar for the other position coaches mentioned.

Count me as one of Steeples people.
I think he’s been a good find and want to see what he can do as we continue to build DBU back up.

Need to make him tight end coach or some shite if he’s really so good at recruiting

Dont fire him, keep him as recruiting coordinator.
This is the correct answer that so many of our fans who don't follow recruiting don't know. Keep him on as the head of recruiting and call the last guy and tell him LSU will pay him Aranda money.

I don't remember Nader ever coaching a position

Steeples is a great recruiter and an up and coming coach.
I honestly don't think kelly will fire polian anyway so it's a moot point.

If it was only the muffed punts I’d agree but when it’s every single special teams unit, it’s on the coach.
If one guys messes up it’s on them. if everyone is messing up, it’s on the coach.
Also we had 35 scholarship guys for our bowl game and we could still cover fricking kicks.
Plain and simple, the buck stops at the coach.

and lining up with too many players in the backfield in punt formation. Yes, that is a coaching issue along with the others.
The best coaches teach over and over and over and over again the basics of formation and rules. When a player is confronted with any of these, there has to be a simple thought immediately to what he has been taught over and over and over again.
Bad mental decisions on such things are a result of lazy coaching.

Results are all that matter and our results are 117th in the country in special teams. I don’t care about his experience, whether it’s his fault guys are dropping kicks, personnel issues etc. his results indicate he needs to be replaced.

The special teams coach should not be getting screen time, let alone being repeatedly shown throughout the broadcast.
The fact that we keep seeing his yellow hat on TV is alarming. Some of it’s player error, but there are so many problems on ST that need to be fixed.

Where I agree it’s not all on Polian and the players have to execute, at the same time, you didn’t see the same chaotic, discombobulated mess when McMahon was S/T coach. So, not all S/T coaches are created equal.

Kelly isn't going to fire him per se, LSU BoS might nudge that transition.

If we can't cover punts or kickoff returns just tell the them to kick it out of the end zone or punt it out of bounds EVERYTIME! It's just that simple.

I have seen this too.... on kickoffs they are 3/4 speed down the field... are we trying so hard to maintain spacing and lanes that we are late, allowing them to get to the 25 and beyond? Seems that way to me.

Fire that garbage b .!/‘a.

Good coaches make average and below average players good/great. last time i checked Polian’s salary 625,000. Come to work prepared or hit the door. This isn't the welfare office.

The players not catching the ball IS HIS FAULT! we pay him 625,000 of our hard earned tax dollars to produce quality players by teaching them how to play the sport.
