…is the play BEFORE the 4th and 1.

If Watkins or whoever it was that caught the ball, had the presence of mind to KNOW WHERE THE YARD TO MAKE WAS and run the route past it by a couple yards, the game would have been over right there.

Knowledge. Composure. Discipline to know where you are on the field.
All lacking.

It ain’t like he slid. He sat down in the soft spot in the zone and tried to get to the line to gain and was stopped short

So many opportunities to win. To use the famous Les Miles phrase, “ lack of chest”

I personally thought he was less than a full yard short. Thought it should have been 4 and 1/2 yd

He caught the ball around his stomach and the defender never let him get his hands up. Was a great tackle. Not sure if it was the throw or catch that made him not catch it in his hands.

The total lack of discipline and preparedness of this team is what is the most concerning to me! This is BK level crap! I really was expecting this to get fixed with Lane. Had not been the case thus far!

Watkins looks slow every time he touches the ball. He seems to have no burst/acceleration and goes down as soon as someone gets a hand on him. He needs to get that 1st down there.

Basically, he plays soft and lazy. Just watch him try to block. I know this sounds like insanity considering he's our leading receiver but I'd be cool with giving more snaps to Barber in his place.

Run the route PAST where the first down marker is.
PAST it, not right to it. Leave no doubt when you’re tackled.

Meh. Watkins is not a big WR and the defender made a good play. He’s not built to drag defenders, no matter how much he may try.

Agreed. Horrible spot by the ref. Yet another example of how we were hosed throughout the night.

I would certainly enjoy seeing Jackson Harris be more of a focal point of the passing game.

It was a catch and run. He couldn’t run past the first down marker. He ran for at least 5 yards

Not insane. Just dumb.

I get that, but his strength is getting yards before contact. Anyone criticizing him for lack of effort because a bigger player executes a tackle is being ridiculous. He’s not going to drag defenders. They were defending the line to gain and got to him.

As long as Green is out, Mothershed is probably the only WR we have who we can expect more than slithering out of a poorly executed tackle from. That’s just the reality of having a lot of smaller WRs.
