Its their school and their peers. What right do you have to judge them?

But I would never boo an amateur athlete...much less my alma mater.

And that's your perogative.

It just seems judgemental that you would criticize someone else that might not feel the same way. Expecially, because they don't have 2 degrees or a high income.

And while they are legally classified as amateurs, they are in fact paid, and paid well to perform at an SEC school. You or I may not agree on booing, but the players have expectations to perform, and they are paid for this, agree?

There's only one player that might think he's the recipient of the boo's, and he stated this morning that he doesn't care about his bad performance or what the crowd thinks. So what the hell are you talking about?

They have every right to boo. They also should know it says much more about the person booing than it does the state of the program. Seems a better way of protesting would be to stay away from the games.

Miles would've never put Lee in for that series if there were no boos, so yes it did change things IMO.

You just might be on to something here.

If we could work out some type of rudimentary Boo-code, the coaches would respond to our boos in a strategic manner. From the length and intensity of our boos, the coaches would know which players we wanted to see and which plays to run in a given situation.

Problem is, we'd have to keep it fresh so that the opposing team doesn't decipher our boo-based playbook.

Interesting...

Of course it does. Who are the individuals "booing?" Coach? Player? Individual play call?

I'm dead against the booing at any type of game. How do the players actually know that the boos aren't directed at the players, but the coaches? If the student that boos can do better, then why isn't his arse on the field? Imagine you're a highly recruited high school football player. Would you want to play at a university where they hear 92,000 people booing? The recruits don't know who the boos are directed at. As for the players getting paid to play, it's against the NCAA rules for the college athlete to receive anything from the university. Athletic scholarships do not pay for the entire cost of a college education.

You guys must really think our athletes are stupid. They're not. They're intelligent men. They're tough. They're SEC athletes. To treat them like pussies is wrong. They KNOW who's getting booed, they're not imbeciles.

They are absolutely allowed to receive their tuition, books, housing, and food paid for. They are also allowed to receive clothing, shoes, etc. related to the sport they play. Not to mention traveling, bowl perks, etc. All allowed under the NCAA.

These are all received by the athletes, in return for their service on the team.

So how did that make you feel? Did that in some way empower you? Did you change things? Did that make you feel like you were contributing something positive?
I'm truly intersted in the psychology of this.

Booing is an attempt to make yourself feel more important that you really are in a situation.

Yes, you bought a ticket.. but that just makes you a "spectator" at an event.. that's all. Just like going to a play.. you don't expect to have a say in who they cast for specific parts or how things are choreographed!! If you don't like the product then DON'T PAY TO GO BACK!!

Athletes have to have their own pocket money and pay their own way to go back home, etc. The books, housing, and food are all covered under a full schlorship. Clothes cannot be given to an athlete to wear outside of a sporting event. The clothes must only be worn at the sport that the athlete participates in. Free Shoes University tried to give its players shoes that pertained to the sport the athlete participated in and told them they could wear their shoes where ever they wanted to. The NCAA came knocking at their front door.
