Those cowards didn’t even have the courage to explain what was happening to those of us in the stands.

And to my point in OP, the runner stole home and yet never touched home.

Exactly right up until the point where the balk/ baulk was called.

This is still absolutely insane.

“shite did you see it? No. Did you? Nah me either. What about you? Nope? Well we have to believe what this coach is telling us. PLAY OVERRULED!”

And you can’t challenge it.
And they can’t review it.
And the runner doesn’t have to touch home.
And the batter is awarded first base on an 0-2 count.
And your coach is now ejected.

I don’t understand why the batter was awarded first base.

So on a home run, is the batter awarded home?

True, but not a word about the batter stepping out of the box before the catcher received the pitch. Btw, was the pitch a ball? Strike? Why wasn’t it called? Why wasn’t the batter even discussed?

And yet still, the thing that has me fricked up the most is that THE RUNNER NEVER TOUCHED HOME

The umpire also never called the pitch a ball or strike (strike 3).

Show me the rule.
That's not the rule.

The rule is, if a runner is called out at home plate and after review/umpire conference/whatever the call is overturned and the runner is ruled safe, he does not have to go back out and touch the bag.

He can't just walk into the dugout after a balk, and if it were any other base, he'd obviously have to go to the base after the review/overturn.

Yep.

Show me the rule that says you don’t have to touch home when it’s awarded. For that matter, show me the rule that says you don’t have to touch any base when it’s awarded.

So it seems the play was challenged, the umps convened and decided to overturn the original call of out at the plate on a play that couldn’t be challenged or reviewed. That is what is pissing everyone off. The umps get to overrule the challenge rule then shut down any challenges after that.

It wasn’t challenged because it couldn’t be. If it would have been challenged, it would have been susceptible to video review which it wasn’t.

The USC coach put a little bug in the umpires’ ears and then they convened.

There was a challenge by the USC dugout

No there was no “challenge”. Challenges are reviewed by the SEC office and the umps on the field have no input in that. I’m assuming since we were at commercial break, Kingston asked about Neal crossing the plate and the umps convened and asked each other what they saw. And then the insanity began.

Technically that’s a challenge, the call was out.
