He’s the winningest active coach in college football. I think he knows what he’s doing.

So tired of seeing y'all post that bullshite. It's a lot easier to get a record like that whenever you're coaching smaller level colleges and Notre Dame who is not in anyone's hard division like the SEC. Let's look at his record versus top 25

Brian Kelly, LSU

35-37 (.486)

Just for contest, this is Les Miles record versus top 25

Les Miles had an overall record of 45-33

I tried telling y'all the injury is not the issue right now. If it was really that bad he would have sat the entire week 2 before LA tech and not played. Now its definitely impacted some of his throws whether that be timing or torque wise but its not the "Oh hes too hurt to play and the offense has sucked because he is injured. Once hes healed the offense will be fixed." His health has nothing to do with our run blocking, terrible route concepts, terrible route spacing, and predictable play calling. It impacted his timing on deep passes and likely the reason some of his passes have died out at certain points not being used to throwing the passes lately but thats about it.

Sounds like cover for a shitty offensive performance.

Doesn’t say shite about this injury until he makes a fool of himself in the presser and the offense stinks it up. Obviously you fricking sit him and let him rest against our next opponent….but nah NOW he is better and doing things he hasn’t been doing in weeks.

Something stinks with this!

I agree with your summation. The torso injury can heal with him playing as long as he does not sustain a forceful torque injury to his core. That said playing the backup would give the team the opportunity to experience another QB's playing style, possibly complicate Ole Miss's preparation, and finally give our backup some gametime experience.

I interpreted that he would need the amount of time from now through the bye week to get back to 100%, and not that the rest would make him better.

My 2 cents.

Garrett's injury has hampered his ability to throw the deep ball. Think back to the pick he threw against La. Tech on a ball that was severely underthrown. He makes that throw 99 times out of 100 last season. I think that his torso injury has messed with his timing, accuracy, and ability to handle the deep ball.

Some in here struggle with reading comprehension and wonder how he's healed in 3 days. He hasn't. He has had this since camp and the only reason it's disclosed now is because he's on the upswing. He is finally practicing fully, but BK believes he still needs the upcoming bye week to fully rest it and be back to 100%.

This all seems quite indisputable to me. The clear hope is that re-gaining a deep ball attack will open up much more underneath passing game and the run game.

It also explains why BK has been unwilling to overcommit on the offensive attack because he has seen Garrett underthrow balls and miss on timing and accuracy and knows that we needed to rely on defense and ST rather than try to prematurely force the offense to open up. Clearly the hope is that we'll get there.

You know what’s funny? What’s funny is all of it could be absolutely true with what he said but some of you only see two options in his statement.
Yes, yes, he still may need a full week to get fully recovered. It doesn’t mean that he can’t pick up some of the things that he needs to be doing between now and then. Such as throwing a little bit longer to route. Maybe not fully throwing it 60 yards down the field but maybe 20 yards, 30 yards etc..
Maybe the coaches focused on protecting him from getting sacked. Limiting the route would do that. Maybe they implemented a game plan that actually could beat both Clemson and Florida. Maybe the next game that they have to play on the road, he doesn’t have to worry about as much penetration from the defensive line.
He didn’t contradict anything in this statement. Just listen to everything he said in that entire press conference and then read everything else.

Nussmeier from a PFF grade has been very good for 3 weeks straight. But he has obviously been off from an accuracy standpoint, especially with the deep ball.
