Everything that is not women's basketball is more important than women's basketball.

Bayourat, you're not getting the credit you deserve for this one. I have to admit I needed the explanation, but after that...

That same team beat Mississippi State at state....
Not a pushover. I dont think we were ready for their press and Kenny didnt shoot well at all. Even Baylor lost, Must be something in the air or just the start of the season. I dont think we were suspose to go undefeated anyway....When you lose 5 starters it takes time!

i seem to recall she just landed a 5 star recruit for next year.

honestly out side of Augustus and Fowles, a lot of our highly ranked recruited never panned out and took the torch after they left.

also those are 2 of the best female college players ever. We were pretty spoiled

Brilliant!

She inherited very little from Van. It's a major rebuilding effort for her. She deserves some time.

+1 Recruiting is the life blood of any program.I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt in the mean time.

Guys, she lost five seniors off of last year's team. Everyone who follows the program knows this is a rebuilding year. She's holding five scholarships to bring in a big class. She's already signed two highly ranked players for next year's team. The next recruiting class after that is going to be a monster class. Nikki will be fine. The program is in good hands. But we ARE gonna take our lumps this season. It is what it is.

some good comments, but need to share a few facts for some of you..

Pokey is the main one who killed the program- she left 9 seniors for Van and zero (zero) Juniors, think about that for a minute

she broke the promises and trust of all LSU by violating an ethical standard that ANY coach anywhere knows and is fired for..simple..

Van was not great in recruting and perhaps should have left a year earlier, but did stabilize things and took 2 teams further than Nikki has ever taken a team in NCAA's- one with one senior starter. He never lost to Tulane (Nikki did, one of 4 times we have ever lost to Tulane) or anyone close to Hampton.

Simone and Sylvia and to an extent TJ, were players that are program changers, and Pokey was vital in getting all three..as was Sue, Bob, others.

Nikki, inherited a top 10 program (top 5 in past 7 years) and IMO was a bit arrogant in changing EVERYTHING, like the fast break club, the walls of the wbb office, ANY connection with LSU past.

She and one of her coaches had babies in the past 8 months and neither was married. No big deal to me, but a fact.

Losing to Hampton is NEVER acceptable, and we got blown out after Nikki has recruited the last two classes.

Miss St is terrible the past few years, 9-26 in SEC last 2 years and did not beat 1 team above a 109 RPI!!! so Hampton beating MSU (in a clse game) while we got waxed by Hampton is NOT a good comp.

I think Nikki was a very good hire and am fairly sure she will do well, but she has not proven to be anything special yet and IMO has underachieved for the program so far. Time will tell, but no matter what a loss to Hampton (by doubdle digits no less) is soemthing that a program like LSU should NEVER see.

Define stabilize?

A PMAC usher could've taken them to the Final 4 Van's 1st season.

Sucks for Caldwell she had the talent Van recruited and not what Pokey left.

So we were a top 10 program even though we were coming off missing the NCAA tourney? Once Sylvia left the top ten program was through.

Hampton is owning the SEC in women's basketball. They beat State and LSU in the same week. Have a shot at USCe this week, too. They are regular in the NCAA tournament, but No, we should not be losing to them. I understand that some of the players she has signed have some national rankings, but the talent level is WAY down.

Wasn't suggesting that she should be fired, just that a loss like that takes a little luster off of the job she did last season.

saintsfan, understand the UGA monicker, but it hurts pretty bad to see a true LSU fan support a team whose Pres tried to ruin our 2007NC because of his ego..but I digress.

Also respect your thoughts on WBB, and while we do not agree on more than about 50/50, you seem to follow things closely. In any case, what would be a succesful season for you for NC this year? Do you accept a 9-11th place sec finish and no NCAA's because you think we will be much better next year? I still think it is unacceptbale for us to not make NCAAs this yeart with SEC being down and who we have on team (by my count 7 top 150 players). Your thoughts? Finally, do you "like" NC's attitude as far as how she acts? I do not claim to know her but feel she thinks she is better than "us" (LSU)...

I wasn't expecting much this year because Van's poor recruiting left them without much in the post(2 bigs recruited by Van left on the team). Youngblood isn't ready and probably could've been a redshirt candidate if she wasn't needed now for depth. Basically they can't play "LSU defense" with what they've got down low.

Would you think that if she played college ball anywhere but Tennessee?
You think she'd be doing stuff like this if she thought she was better than us?
