A lot of "FREE" points left on the table this year. The amazing thing to me was the 3 missed extra points. These are TWO college kickers we are talking about.

11 FG's = 33 points
3 EP's = 3 points

36 points given up by the kickers. I would give them a typical 3 missed FG's for the year. They still left 27 points out there. Pretty bad for college.

Troy and Notre Dame are wins with a competent kicker. Period. It is that easy.

Really? You are that ill informed about how scholarships work? Kinda hurts your credibility on the thread if you don’t have a general understanding of the topic you are complaining about.

I think he was being sarcastic. I hope so. I don't believe anyone could really be that dumb.

He also hit all 67 of his extra-point attempts for the Greyhounds’ powerful offense.

Maybe we should offer their OC, he put up 67 TDs.

Good thing the solution to beating Troy has arrived in the form of a kicker

I hope it works out and understand why Ogeron burned a scholarship on a 1 year kicker (though I disagree with doing so at the expense of a potentially impactful 3-4 year player at another position). But the scouts were right to be concerned -- kicking in high pressure situations in front of 90k+ in the stands and millions more watching on TV is FAR different than kicking in front of maybe a few thousand people.

Maybe neither one will ever be worth a damn, but I think the struggles of the two kickers this past season were almost entirely mental. With it being their first years as starters it is somewhat understandable. Nothing can fully prepare you for the pressure of kicking at LSU for the first time and fair or not, I think O did a poor job of managing the psyche of his kickers by expressly and publicly throwing them under the bus on numerous occasions. Those guys were already feeling the pressure of playing the ONE position in football where you are expected to be perfect. It doesn't really help build your confidence when your HC is telling anyone who will listen that your aren't any good and need to be replaced starting almost at the beginning of the season (you can feel that way privately, but why say it publicly while the season is still going on?)

Kicking cost us two games last year. Troy and ND in the bowl game.

If he is that solid, he will have no problem kicking in TS and in other SEC stadiums.

I knew a kid that was a really good pitcher at our HS and this one School had the worse, loud as Phuck, noise making, fence rattling, stand thumping, screaming...well...you get it.

Coach asked him if he would be alright in his first game there. He said when he pitches all he hears is a humming sound and his body/muscle memory takes over.

Huh?

Darn near in the playoffs with a kicker. That said, your post doesn't make sense.

Having a money kicker is crucial. Alabama almost lost the championship because pappanasty bricked them.

+27-30 points and this team gets to 10 wins.

Kickers have to respond under pressure.

Yours truly was a pretty good kicker in high school (at the time of integration) where all the white and black players were thrown together, ala “Remember the Titans”.

We had a critical kick one Friday night, and right before it, a big black dude came up to me and said “ I don’t want to put no pressure on you, but if you miss this kick, don’t come to school Monday!!”

Aren't you one bitching about our losses this year? Troy, MSU, etc. Scoring is sort of a big part of the game.
