Anyone else feel Devin White is poised for the breakout season next year? He sure looked really good in limited action at ILB this year, and special teams.

6'1, 255 pounds
Ran a laser timed 4.49 40 as a junior in high school
Has a 38" vertical leap
30 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack and 1 FF as a true Freshman

One of those guys whose athletic ability looks like translates very well on the football field. Cannot wait to see him wreck RBs and QBs next season.

We've had quite the run of elite LBs recently:

Kendell Beckwith
Debo Jones
Kwon Alexander
Kevin Minter

I really like White. He's actually getting more time and seems to be developing more quickly than average. Beckwith contributed but he didn't really become "Beckwith" until his JR season. White looks like he'll be a dominating player as a SO.

Yes.

I'll even go as far to say he will be the best out of that group.

Definitely showed something end of year. Makes me less worried about Beck's replacement for next year. I could see White becoming an absolute beast.

Well that's on chief for playing Welter for so long

I think the one concern is that with his height (he might be listed at 6'1, but I think he's below 6'0) he could get swallowed up by much bigger O-lineman. However, he certainly looked the part when he got snaps this past year, much like Key in his Freshman year.

And Beckwith was at DE his first year here. Didn't even start playing some LB till sophomore season.

I believe White will develop faster than Beckwidth (blame on coaches' lack of recognition early) and will have TREMENDOUS upside. Can't wait to watch him in the next few years.

My only concern for DW is the MLB/ILB in Aranda's defense makes all the adjustments and lines the defense up.

Physically, he looks like an All-American.

I hope he doesn't have any issues being the "Quarterback" of the defense but if he does I imagine they'll just have another player handle that role and let Devin focus on playing.

That other player may very well be Donnie Alexander of Devin Voorhies.

He's gonna be the best lb in LSU history. Haven't seen anyone close like him from that position

Kevin Minter checked in at 5'11 3/4" at the NFL combine and he did just fine at LBer for us.

I think if he avoids injury he will be an All American. He is an intelligent kid and has an amazing coach in Aranda. He will be long remembered.
