Thank you. That’s one of the nicest things I’ve ever been called.

That “walk on hoops player,” Trace Young, has amassed over 400k followers on social media and bought a G Wagon in cash with his NIL earnings as shown in the documentary. Pretty badass for 22 years old. Let’s not make him out to be a scrub.
WTF does any of that have to do with his basketball ability?

Nothing. But it probably has a lot to do with Dick’s and Under Armour signing him to NIL deals.
I’m amazed at how many of y’all completely missed the point of that post.
ETA: Y’all do realize that some of these athletes, particularly the ones being featured in the documentary, have legitimate NIL deals that aren’t simply bags of cash from the collective, right?

Zilch. If you watch the documentary it shows how even a walk-on can capitalize on NIL through content creation and supporting other athletes at LSU with their own NIL endeavors. Trace Young actually has photography credentials at certain sporting events (football/track) to help other athletes with their posts/media relations.
Watch the series before you shite on the kid.

we are spending NIL on a walk on hoops player, we have no chance
You are a fricking moron and every post you make confirms it.
If anything, you are an embarrassment to LSU with every post you make on every other board

I have watched this yet, but was any of this already happening when he was at Colorado State?

He's been an "influencer" since he was in high school, so yes. In the doc series he talks about doing yardwork videos with his friends on tiktok in high school.

The most important story of NIL that is NOT being covered is that the student athletes that NIL was meant for are finally able to earn money.
For over 100 years the rules handicapped 99% of student athletes in their collegiate/overall lives.
The "D3 men's golfer" who should have always been able to put up a home printed flyer advertising for golf lessons or even raise money FOR charity could not do it.
The "D2 women's hockey player" whose parents own the local mom & pop sporting goods store can now appear in local TV commercials &/or billboards in town now promoting her family's business to help everyone in the family earn more money.
The "D1 walk on football player" from the lower income side of life can now go home or into any community to host/put on a player clinic & earn some money to pay some simple personal bills.
Yes, the massive superstars on the football field, basketball court, & a handful of them on the baseball diamond are making massive $100,000+ deals. And that is amazing for them. But the biggest story that NEEDS to be told/covered/go viral is how many "little guys" are finally getting what they should have been getting all along.

I thought it was interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes to create these social media posts.... A whole lot more than I thought.
I could've done without seeing Livvy's sister yelling "Let's Geaux!!" 50 times at the gym meets. (it wasn't 50, but it seemed like it)

It pisses me off that college athletes are now able to monetize their rare skills and talents like any other American. Feels like freedom. Freedom is bad. All of this money should be diverted to me because I can spend that money better anyhow.
