For me it was the Arizona St game, moves to Tempe after Katrina.

1st series we go 3 and out backed up on our 9....4th and around 10.

Inexplicably Arizona St leaves gunner uncovered and the punter Chris Jackson flips a pass for the 1st. While the play was successful, the discipline of a Saban team was immediately lost. There were numerous procedural and especially the personal foul trash talking evident.

People didn’t want to admit, but the signs were obvious game 1 in that took a miraculous 4th and long save from JaMarcus to Doucet to get the win over an overmatched Arizona St.

I was in college at the time when Les wore the terrible headset. Had a few cold pops and called the Les Miles Show and I asked him if he borrowed it from Brittany Spears. He deflected and didn’t answer the question. I believe it was my call that got him to stop. Cheers

Let's not rewrite history...Miles won a ton of games and a Natty. Absent the latest news, he was great for LSU.

Watching OSU get blown out after having a 28 point halftime lead against UT the year before LSU hired him was my first introduction to Miles.

No, everyone knew Les Miles was a terrible coach and person beginning in 2005 and the biggest regret of Nick Saban's life is that idiot Skip Bertman refused to take him back to coach LSU.

Wrong, everyone did not know that. In fact, 2005 was one of LSU's greatest seasons ever, considering all they went thru. Miles did an amazing job that year.

The time out against Tennessee was such a basic error not even a playground dad coach should make. Instantly knew he was either dumb or was a bed quitter under pressure.

That said he won a natty.

This is total speculation and has never been proven.

Those who know people within the AD or friends of friends of people within the AD know this is true. It never will be proven fact as such things of that nature never are. The timing was just bad. I can also tell you this, Saban agreed to a contract at Texas while he was at Bama. But the University of Texas was not a good place for a guy like Saban. Politicians, boosters, and corporations control and have input in everything that happens at that institution.

Im pretty sure this was told by Skip Bertman himself

I heard Skip say it on a radio show one time. Skip essentially said that they had just hired les and there was no way he would fire him at that time.

I also know plenty of people within the athletics department. Everyone was tired of Nick Saban by the time he left. They were burned out by him. Great coach but huge Ahole.

Skip was tired of dealing with Nick‘s agent. Every year Nick‘s agent would hit up Skip for a pay raise or something else. If Skip did not give in to the demands then Nick would threaten to leave. Think about how that would irk an old school coach like skip bertman.

The moment we all knew

January 9,2012 was the moment WE ALL KNEW!!
There were multiple other moments all outlined well here that showed problems, but that date will always live in infamy as the downfall of LSU football and Les.

Now that all this has come out, can someone finally tell us fans what really happened that night/week/month? I mean why such poor preparation with a month to do so, with no change in offensive game plan? Why did Jarrett Lee nor Zach Mettenberger not play a down? It's been said jokingly that JJ may have had something on Les? I kept wondering how the man could just stand there and watch his team get embarrassed in a NC game (which don't come around too often) without trying SOMETHING different.
