LSU fans beat their chest about how great the tailgating atmosphere is before the game and they’re totally right. It’s a truly unique experience. But it has become “the event” while the game itself is secondary.

It wouldn't be a permanent fix, but we should copy clemson and let the fans come down on the field to celebrate victories with the team. I guarantee people would hang around for that.
I drive 3.5 hours one way to every game. My observation...we start tailgating at 8AM. That means I left my house before 5AM. Kickoff is at 6, games now last at least 4 hours. I don't get on the road good, typically, until 11:30PM. I usually make it to my driveway around 2:30AM Sunday morning. Our culture of partying all day is largely to blame for early exits. By halftime, we've been going hard for at least 12 hours, and we still have 2 hours of the game left and 3.5 hours of driving to get home.
If they'd let us on the field to celebrate a win, I'd stay until the end every week. All of that being said, in over 30 years of doing this, I've left "early" maybe ten times. Those times were because I had young kids during a hot day game or had been awake for over 24 hours and still had to drive home. I don't consider getting up and walking down with a minute or two left when the game is out of reach leaving early.
Let us on the field after a win and I'd bet the stadium stayed 3/4 full until the clock read all zeros.

People just don’t understand the basic law of supply and demand. If the face value of tickets was “affordable” what ever that means. They would sell out faster and people would try to resell them on secondary markets.

I think the fans are crying and they may have some validity to their argument.
Would the athletic department prefer fans stay? Definitely. Are they crying that they are leaving? Not really.
They are making more money than ever.

What happens when you over regulate, take the fun out of it. Charge the F out of people, and do little to nothing about the traffic and parking issues.
If LSU was a business competing with other competition for the same market, they would be out of business in short order, or at least hanging on for dear life.
Truth is, it’s still entertainment, and people have to justify the value of what you’re getting for what you’re spending in time and money.

Great post and so true. Alcoholics all over the place and it's sad. I'm there with my 11 year old and you can't even throw a piss balloon at the opponents fans without drunks calling attention to it. Why can't people just consume in moderation

For us sort of old timers, I don’t understand leaving early if you go. You’ve already expended so much effort to be there, why not stay and enjoy the experience? Maybe the rain last night sent a few packing early. But it was an entertaining game throughout.

No, THIS is bullshite. The Bama games in 2010 & 2012 werebonkers on campus all day long starting at 7am. The parking fees existed then but it was just pay at the guard shacks and parking was 1st come 1st serve. Now every lot on the interior is a parking pass only lot. They elimates most of the street parking on S. Stadium. My walk from the Ag Lot down S. Stadium to my tailgate is depressing now. Even Bama 2 years ago. They’ve killed that side of campus and now added the block party shite so it’s even more sterile.

Just speaking for myself here. LSU and BRPD has to figure out better parking and traffic solutions.
I can’t go to campus with 1-2 kids and wife at noon, play all day, sit in stands for 4 hours then 2 hours in traffic and an hour drive once out of Baton Rouge getting home a 2 in the morning. I used to go to 4-5 games a year and I may do that again one day but it is just not feasible.

You have 100K+ in the area most trying to leave at the same time, guess what there will Be traffic. There was ALWAYS traffic after LSU games

My solution is highspeed rail to New Orleans that doesn’t leave until 1 hour after the game ends. They could build a station on Nicholson and it could take you right into the CBD. I guarantee that this would be used on game days.

Correct. And as posted several times by me and other there are two separate issues: 1) Attendance (i.e. ticket sales) and 2) Crowd leaving early.
Attendance is not going to be corrected. Stadiums are too big now and don't (can't) offer the amenities someone can get at home. The days of constantly packing 100,000 seat stadiums are over (for everybody).
Crowd Leaving early is a completely separate issue and one that plagues LSU worse than any other team. Nobody else has the mass exodus of fans at halftime that LSU does. I am flummoxed as to why, but it would be wonderful if somebody could figure it out.

I stayed till the end but I saw a lot of people with kids so leaving early to me isn’t that big a deal. I stayed to hopefully hear Neck and geaux to Hell ole miss geaux to Hell I do t think either happened but watching this team was worth sitting in the rain. Hell I was already wet and if my preacher ( ole miss fan) can stay drive back and preach Sunday morning so can I. This team is special. I know ole miss isn’t very good but when I saw coach O coming off the bus with that big grin I knew we’d win big
