I still think he’s a solid hire and will do good at Florida but Jesus some of the takes the media had all week over one win at home agaisnt an emotionally spent ole miss team missing their best back was insane.

Clown arse finebaum was really trying to start the narrative he’s alredy a better coach than Kiffin. Some in the media even tried saying LSU would regret prioritizing kiffin over Sumrall. Seeing Florida get humbled and the media look like idiots was insanely satisfying.

The media needs clicks and stories.

They prop up a new coach, gets stories all week

New coach fails to meet new astronomical expectations, another week of stories while appointing new god send

In the 24/7 sports world these days, horrible narratives are pushed on a weekly basis to keep people engaged.

Nobody cares about making embarrassing comments like that because something will happen this week that'll make everyone forget what they said last week.

"journalists" have zero, and I mean zero integrity or ownership towards what comes out of their mouths anymore.

That’s sort of twisting his words a little bit

It's what the media does. They hop on the latest "thing" so they can obtain views. They did it to us when we beat Clemson.

That’s what Saban calls rat poison. Perfect example. No disrespect to Sumrall or Tulane, but I didn’t want Tulane’s coach. No thanks. He will get his chance to prove himself at Florida. Lane has already proved himself at a much harder place to win with a tougher schedule at Ole Miss.

I didn't know Paul was getting on the Sumrall bandwagon, but Josh Pate was an idiot for saying what he said. Sumrall is a good coach I believe but they are rebuilding just like LSU had to rebuild. So to put that kind of statement on Sumrall was stupid.
Their pass defense is terrible especially against a QB that seems to be locked in and has the arm SImmons has.
If you can stop the run game, Philo can't carry the team.

I’m sure he’s a good coach at a Tulane or Troy. That’s a good accomplishment but not for a top 10 program.

Kinda like how this board acted when Brian Kelly beat Alabama in 2022…

The bigger point is how bad a coach Napier was. Apparently, when Sumerall got to Florida, the S&C was so bad he could personally out lift half the team. Players are there, they just needed a decent coach. Implementing a S&C program has benefited Baugh, he’s leaner and quicker.

Football law is never just a coach in Y1.

People making declarations either way after a game or 2 are ignorant.

What Lane did at Ole Miss was give them their best season in probably 50+ years. He completely turned around a bad SEC program. That’s an accomplishment

During an appearance on the Bussin' With The Boys podcast ahead of Week 5 of the 2026 season, Josh Pate remarked that if the high-scoring Florida Gators put together another dominant offensive performance, people would begin comparing them to the 15-0 national champion 2019 LSU Tigers team led by Joe Burrow. Florida had averaged 53.5 points per game through their first four contests, prompting the premature hype.

This is true, however the context wasn’t that he thought it should be that way. He said he saw it coming.

Don’t forget, 2020 UF and Bama were both called 2019 LSU at some point.

Every year there is a team that the media or fanbase wants to compare to 2019 LSU.

They did the same thing with the Moo State QB. Then he proceeds to have 2 turnovers in the 1st quarter.

Yeah, and Mike norvell turned FSU around…. Until he didn’t. Every inherited circumstance is different. It’s too difficult to discern who is responsible for what in year 1.

And Sumrall surely wasn’t saying he was 2019 LSU, either. A fan’s inability to filter media properly is also an issue when it comes to things like this.
