If you are a fan of college basketball then you cannot condemn Will Wade without condemning every single coach who makes the NCAA tourney year in and year out. It is what it is. Not making light of cheating in any way, but college basketball is a dirty, dirty institution.
What OBJ did was stupid and immature. It had no purpose other than to be a clown in front of everyone.

Wade wasn't "openly" discussing anything. He was having a (what was thought to be) private telephone conversation. It just so happens that for the first time in history the FBI decided it had nothing more productive to do than secretly record coaches discussing recruiting. Do you really think "shady" recruiting just started in 2018?
Beckham on the other hand was literally handing out money to players in front of tens of thousands of people AND hundreds of cameras.
I'm not saying either guy was right or wrong in what they did. But there is a BIG difference between having a two person telephone call which no reasonable person would ever think would be being recorded by law enforcement vs. OPENLY drawing attention to yourself in front of thousands by handing out cash to players.
Or maybe to put it another way, what Wade (allegedly) did was dumb with the benefit of hindsight. Everyone knew what Beckham did would be a stupid thing to do even BEFORE he did it.

It was bad. WW got caught in a situation an LSUhead coach should never be in.
He did get suspended. We got reviewed by the NCAA.
We have been dragged through the mud. WW got dragged through the mud. WW lost some money and the suspension might have cost us one more NCAA tourney win.

The only bad thing about the situation was the way Alleva handled it without evidence.
That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the Duke Lacrosse scandal though.
