I was there. The big inning was so long that when a GT pitcher finally got an out, people (LSU people) stood up and applauded. I swear that inning was over an hour long

Danny Hall (GT coach) started kicking up dirt on the mound every time he had to change a pitcher. GT used 6 pitchers just in that inning.

I was in L1 and witnessing it all.

ETA: Hall's still coaching there, too.

Anyone have video to this game?

I wish I did and even tried to find it, but I don't believe it aired on TV. I even tried Kevin Wagner a good while back.

Yeah I would really love to see video of that too.

LSU put out a commemorative video in 1996 (1997 too), which had the "inning" on it, but it was played at fast speed. It was called "Hearts of Gold".

NCAA record: doubles in inning (8)

That was the amazing stat, imo. The gaps in the outfield just seemed to get wider and wider.

i was there, and i was supposed to go to work after the game. this was the pre cell phone era obviously, and LSU would set up a phone bank behind the 3rd base dugout. i had to call and say i would be late because "the half of the inning took an hour!!"

It was actually Warren Morris who made two outs in the inning with a hit in between the outs. He was just getting back from the wrist injury.

What he hell did you wait for? You should have pulled over and kicked her arse out then and there!
Wasn't that the first time they wore the yellow jerseys? I remember the local tv sports announcer commenting on them, saying the reason LSU scored so many runs was because we blinded the GT players with their brightness.

Yea, I see the play by play in the e-mail below yours. Shows how bad my memory has become. It is hell getting old.

God, Tim Lanier's line from that inning is ridiculous. 2 AB, 2 H, 3 R, 5 RBI, 1 HBP, 1 2B, and 1 HR. That's probably the best game he ever had, all in one inning.
