I'll never get the line of thinking behind it and can not possibly understand how they thought it was going to work. Welter doesn't even look like he should be on scholarship much less a lock to start every week.

He's a better fit in an ACC team, not SEC. I actually feel sorry for him. Does anyone think he's enjoying himself out there? He probably hates the chief. I'm surprised he hasn't been hurt, badly.

If there is no one better than him on this team at the Mike, we are in big trouble.

And when Bama dragged the TE across the middle, then he outran the entire secondasry to the end zone? Lamar was at mlb, so youre venom on Welter is wasted

That was horrendous. The TE looks like he can play on Sundays. Even if somebody caught him, does anyone think he would have tackled him?

The main problem is that our recruiting at linebacker has been horrible. Too many 5'11" 210 lb guys. WE need real linebackers like Bama has. Saban takes away the run with his front and backers in order to make teams one dimensional; it starts with recruiting. Louisiana apparently doesn't produce outstanding linebackers anymore.

Beckwith comes to mind, but oh wait, he's been sent over to DE to play a handful of plays this year.

I wonder if Chavis is pissed bc Miles moved MJ to full back. I try to think of every reason he would play Welter and I've got nothing!!!

How stupid to have a player in the game only because he can line everybody up properly. How has that worked out?

Not just him. Loston should have been put into the Harper role after the UGA (at the latest). Painfully obvious that he can't cover a soul. Let him play a hybrid linebacking role where he might have a chance to excel.

I love his personality, but Chief is HIGHLY over rated.

The defense has performed pretty much how most rational fans thought they would at the beginning of the season

No, just no. People expected some growing pains, but no one expected to give up wide open touchdown after wide open touchdown like @ UGA. 2 punts the entire game and scored on 8/10 drives including their last 6. No one expected LSU to give up 4+ ypc (haven't even play A&M yet) and 150+ ypg on the ground

The talent is there but the grasp of the defense and experience just isn't. Welter stays in there because he is the only one who can get everybody lined up correctly.

Well he's doing a shitty job then. We didn't look that talented getting outrun by a TE with 4.6 speed despite having the angle on him. Also, the younger guys are completely outperforming the ones with experience. Mills and Loston have blown more coverages than anyone else in the country.

Why didn't we have this issue in the past when we started young players? Why doesn't FSU have this issue? Chavis runs an extremely simple to grasp scheme for this very reason; he wants his players to be able to play immediately

Perhaps the elephant is a complete lack if experience to perform at a high level for 60-min....but why is it this year? Didn't see much "heat" going Chavis' way in last years game w/ Bama.....apparently we lost because we faked a friggin FG and ran the Warecat...apparently giving up 2 TDs t the backend of each half meant nothing

Didn't see many team rushing to get Chavis after Tennessee let him go either.

They did that to TM7 in the BCSNCG also...just saying

In TM7's case, it was to keep him away from the line of scrimmage, IMO which would be a bit different perspective. Welter has seen this treatment all season.

Chavis was the saving grace that gave us the wonderful play of karnell hatcher and DJ welter as starting linebackers.

Ive disliked the way he calls certain game situations for years.
