Not sure what's funny about that. We don't turn the ball over, we are capable of keeping Maziel off the field.

what have you seen from this defense this year to make you think we can stop one of the best playmakers in college football? other than shutting down a horrible florida offense they haven't done much of anything.

let's not forget the complete mismatch in the secondary mike evans has. i can already see him scorching mills.

a&m scored on bama at will. if saban and his monsters can't figure out manziel what chance do you think our thin defense has?

We don't have the personnel. Get over it. I wish someone would post how many four and five star recruits we have on defense. Even if we do have our share, most of them were over rated in high school. If we bitch about anything, it needs to be player development but you can only teach so much then talent comes into play. Oh yeah, how many defenders did we lose to the draft? We knew this D would struggle some and it just so happens they are struggling a lot. The defense doesn't have a single leader who gets them pumped up. Blame the players also if you are going to blame Chavis.

I love it Chavis loses 11 or so NFL cailaber players on Defense and now he cant coach.

Not all of the 4 & 5 star recruits pan out.

Chavis is has been coaching a loaded defense the past couple of years and now he does not have the talent to run what he normally runs and is still trying to figure it out.

Lets see if his defense improves next year

Chief is having one bad year, which is expected with us losing so many in the draft and having to start so many freshman. Chill, stop being so negative, and learn to enjoy pulling for the tigers.

Chavis' critics here are sissy internet geeks who never played football but know more than one of the best DC in the country. This board is the only place they are not ignored or laughed at when they discuss football. Love to hear them join Chavis on a panel discussing football.

loston and barrow were supposed to be our vocal leaders this year. or at least that's what all the preseason hype said.

It's not really about our defense slowing down their offense. A&M will move the ball and score, but the point he was making is our offense is our best defense in this game. Keep Manziel on the sidelines and capitalize on his mistakes and we should win.

our offense hasn't looked too hot in our last sec games. UF, OM, and Bama haven't shown me we are a team that can hang with an offensive machine like a&m.

Instead of putting Beckwith out there early in the season, we moved him to de. In every game he has had very limited snaps at that position, yet has been highly productive.

HAve you seen Beckwith play MLB? i haven't. you have no idea if the guy knows anything or how he reacts or if he can cover. DE is a lot easier to learn.

And rashard Robinson should be starting over mills. Mills looks lost out there, and Reid protected him last year.

I agree, but remember Robinson has been here for 3 months. He may not know all the assignments. I know initially the jsut put him out there in man and let him ball. Also the safeties are suppose to have coverage help deep. Rather than Reid protecting Mills, he was doing his job, something out safeties aren't doing.

I don't think you can explain what you have seen. Try it on the rest of us.

I've watched aTm most of the year and I agree. Offensively, they can put up points, but LSU should have no problem scoring at will against them. They will not beat us and I think we win comfortably.

If LSU mails it in and ends up losing because of lack of effort (see Ole Miss and Arky 2012), I will then start to question the staff's ability to motivate.

Apparently, none of them do so why not just play Robinson & get him some experience?

Safety play has been atrocious. With spring practice, fall practice & now 10 games under their belt i'm surprised they still haven't learned how to play the position.

Not sure what you're laughing at, he's spot on.

I fully expect us to win if we control the ball.

And I fully expect 31 to see very limited action in our 2 LB sets.

The defense has performed pretty much how most rational fans thought they would at the beginning of the season

The talent is there but the grasp of the defense and experience just isn't. Welter stays in there because he is the only one who can get everybody lined up correctly.

Biggest disappointments in my opinion have been Gilmore, Bain, and Herron. These guys came in with high - maybe too high - expectations and other than Herron haven't even seen the field. I'm hoping that they will be in the Brockers mold after getting that redshirt year to muscle up.

Also, what happened to Allen? When I rewatched the TCU game he was almost unblock able. In fact, on the very first series I think he got held on almost every play!

The scariest thing is Welter is a junior. By the looks of it, he will be starting at MLB next year as well... lol

I've never yelled at the TV screen louder than I have watching his abysmal performances.

UF and Bama have far superior defenses than aTm.

Mett dug a deep hole in the OM game that made LSU rely on the D to win, resulting in a loss. OM played inspired football that night and LSU sported the "brook trout" look.

LSU will beat aTm going away.

One other thing, I don't think Chavis is the elephant, the DB coach is the one we should direct our attention to. He needs to go.

Has anyone given any credit to the migration to the pros that happened last year to this years team?
