It was a sad time in LSU history. I was on my way through BR and decided to go to the game. I needed 6 tickets, found them for $10 a piece and then saw another one of Hallman's pitifully coached games. I do remember TE Lafleur having a great game though. But overall the Hallman era lasted 4 yrs too long, horrible HC.

I was there and that was bad, but losing to Tulane 48-7 in the Dome trumps that in so many ways. And that was back when Tulane actually had fans and they were as obnoxious as they could be, which made it worse.

I might have been at the game I can't remember. Hallman actually came to LSU from Southern Miss.

Maybe y'all didnt like the way Les Miles talked, and that's understandable. But comparing him to Curley Hallman? Come on now

I watched that one with a Florida fan. It hurt really badly.

I was at that game. Had a sting to it.

I was there with my 2 then young sons. This is why when I read that CLM is a poor HC, I just laugh. I have seen a BAD HC, and his name is Curly Hallman.

One of the worst coaches ever, in any sport. The fact that we went from Hallman to DiNardo to Saban is incredible.

Yes the 58-3 Florida game was bad, but Hallman actually followed that up with his best stretch at LSU. We did get waxed at Kentucky the next week, but then won 3 straight after that...we beat a decent Ole Miss team at home, had the "Pigs Fly" win at Alabama, then beat Tulane at home to get to 5-5. All we had to do to get to some minor bowl in Miami was beat Arkansas in the final game at home. And of course, Arkansas ran for about 1000 yards and beat LSU 42-24.

The excitement for that Arkansas game was at a fever pitch, as a total of 54,239 tickets were distributed for the final home game of the season at Tiger Stadium

In what universe is losing the national championship "rock bottom"?

That loss is my favorite moment in Tiger football history. After that game, my father was so disgusted with LSU football that he gave me his season tickets. They were tickets that he had owned for decades. I still have them today. Serendipity...

Playing in the national championship game is NOWHERE near as low as losing to a rent-a-win...

...that had previously been coached by the man hired away by LSU...

...in the 6th losing season in a row - the worst losing stretch in the history of LSU football.

You'd have to be quite young to think that wasn't the low point.

This needs to be deleted every time it comes up on this site, it's rediculous. I will never understand our own fan base giving everyone in the country this ammunition to shoot us down with. Just giving it to them, here ya go now shoot us down. I guess some people really want to see bad!!! Keep this up and we will see it. Just shut the frick up!!!
